I'm wondering if we can have an OCD section on this forum please? We don't have an OCD section and I believe it would be good for the forum and the membership if we had one

I don't think that would really get enough use to justify the creation of a sub-board, it's also not really fair to have such a board for one specific condition. However, if there isn't already one in the Mental Health Discussion board, you could always make a thread?
Are there enough members with OCD to justify a new section? I mean, I know it would be nice if there was a specific board for each diagnosis, but I'd have thought there were others with much more need, that we don't have. (like BPD).
I think new forums/sub-forums would be nice, but if there were new ones, there are lots of other ones that would have more need.
It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
We have a mental health board. OCD fits perfectly under the description of the MH board.
This
Also, I think it would get misused - with people diagnosing themselves & then going into that board & people saying they have 'OCD a little bit' which annoys the feck outta me!!
Also, where does it end? We can't have a board for every mental illness/diagnosis or we'd have: depression, schizophrenia, DID, BPD, MPD, Bi Polar, etc etc
Don't get me wrong, I struggled for years with OCD, I got sectioned because I was only eating bananas! (I'm pretty in control of it now though)
A thread in MH discussion would be something that would get used I think so you should go ahead & make that xx
i don't think it needs a whole board. however, i am fairly certain that there is an OCD thread (as i remember posting on it)... it is one of those threads that appears for a while and then goes out of sight for a bit and then comes back again. i'll find it and give it a bump for you :) i've got some things to talk about on there too
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
Are you suggesting a whole board or a thread? If a thread, then the link is there above. If you're meaning a whole board, what is it that you think a board would offer to OCD sufferers that the MH section is not already offering?
Either a thread or a section, just a place for anyone with a diagnosis of OCD to go and post for support, would it be an idea to have a thread for each mental health diagnosis or would that be too much?

Well, there's already a BPD thread, and a few others. In general, if you want there to be somewhere for you to talk about OCD in general, and you can't find a thread like that in existence (do a search to make sure, first), then go ahead and make one. It wouldn't be a good idea though to go off making a dozen threads for all possible disorders, that would be a bit weird, and they'll die off straight away anyway. Make one(s) that apply directly to you that you would use, if there are other people who like the idea, they'll join in and the thread will take off; if not, make your own support thread.

I think the mental health board already fills that need though? If you are wanting support and advice for particular issues relating to your OCD, you could go there right now and make a thread about OCD and you'd get lots of replies. It's fairly slow-moving, so your post wouldn't be lost.
If it's more a big thread you want, for giving and receiving support, then there is the option of an OCD thread. Big 'themed' threads that build up a sub-community have their advantages, and with a little enthusiasm from the posters, threads like the BPD thread and the uni student thread can survive. Try posting in that thread you were linked to, or make a new one, and if there is a niche for an OCD thread, then it will survive. It there isn't, it won't.
