Has anyone used Prozac???

I just started using Prozac (like literally a couple days ago.)
I'm taking it for Depression/OCD and its the first mental health medication i've ever used.
I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience with prozac and if so, could you share what side effects, benefits, ect. that you experienced???
thanks.
xoxo Dez

I'm on it now. I have bipolar (so I suffer from depression) and OCD.
I quite like it. It works really well for my depression but I'm still struggling with my OCD. Unfortunatly due to my bipolar I can't havemy dose increased.

I've taken this on a two occasions. I took it for a year or so when I was 15 and again when I was about 20, again for around a year. I was on it for depression and found it moderately helpful. The only side effect I had when I was on in was a decrease in appetite and that wore off after a few weeks.

I hope it helps you. *hug*

I've been on it twice. The first time I was on it I had a week where everything felt perfect and I was really happen. The second time I was on it the same thing happened for a day. I can't remember what I felt like after the 'highs' passed. I hope you find it helpful.

I have been on at least 6 medications like Prozac. Now I am taking Effexor. I took Prozac two meds ago. I have depression/fibromyalgia/anxitey.

Prozac actually did not work for me. Yet, a close friend of mine takes it and is doing fabulously.

For me, it actually made my depression so bad I was cutting to die and I almost succeeded. It was like a frenzy of panic and darkness. I wasn't crying and SH. I was on my knees, on the floor, shaking, and just out of my mind. On Prozac, I would've killed myself. I believe it. My psychiatrist threatened to send me to treatment whilst I was on that medication.

I am not saying this to scare you at all! It works for some and it doesn't work for other. So if you start feeling worse, just talk to someone about it.

I was allowed to get significantly worse because my psychiatrist was frustrated with me because I do not tolerate many medicines (due to a recent concussion rendering my biochemical sensitivity to be rather high).

I'm glad I had my therapist to talk to and my mom to open up to later about how frantic Prozac made me feel. I couldn't handle many stressors that I usually can. And recently I've been diagnosed with PTSD...and with THAT I tolerate more than with Prozac. But everyone is different.

Good luck <3 *hugs*

I have been on it for a while now. Initially I had awful side effects and felt terrible and like I was drunk/in a bubble. Luckily, these did subside after a few weeks and it is actually the only ad that has ever worked for me. I recently had my dose increased to 40mg and did experience the side effects again but they do settle.

I hope it works for you.

Take care, Zippi xxx

At school my teachers once asked me to write down what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the task, I told them they didn't understand life.

I took Prozac a couple of years ago and it didn't help me at all, I ended up having really bad side effects, I kept being sick for 3 days straight and I didn't eat for three weeks. It made my mood swings a lot worse too. :/ But I always seem to get the side affects with medication even if they say it's unlikely.

I took it many years ago, I can't remember it helped a little but not enough to be significant and so I changed meds (I know that makes this post pretty unhelpful)

It can work fabulously though so good luck with it.

I took it a little more than a year ago. It unfortunately didn't work for me. I cannot say exactly what side effects I had because I was just coming off of another medication that was messing with my head. However, I do know the Prozac worsened my suicidal tendencies to the point where I went back to the hospital for attempting quite a few times. It was quite scary, because for the first 3 weeks I felt fine, but the second they increased my dosage, I crashed. So, that's something to just keep an eye on.

My friend is taking it however, and he is doing wonderful on it. He's so so so much better than he used to be. :3 So, really, it's all a matter of how your body reacts. I hope it works well for youu~
