Hi everyone my name is Claire
Hi all, I found the site because I was googling creatively to read other people's stories about C-PTSD. It looks like an amazing place. I've had a long journey to get here so I can't write it all out in one post, but I self-diagnosed this year and I'm doing a lot of reading and I'm feeling very alone at the moment. Just nearing the end of Judith Herman's Trauma and Recovery. It's been a shocking read for me. My favorite episode of South Park is the one where Cartman gets an anal probe. I feel like one of those inside-out cows. Anyway, I am waiting to try therapy again for the umpteenth time but hopefully I've found the right direction this time, by directly emailing consultants that publish in the field of trauma and asking them what to do/where to go. One kind bloke replied. Fingers crossed. Thanks for reading.

It's not good to self-diagnose xD
My favorite South Park is the World of Warcraft one haha.

Shame the first response had to be a negative! I've been working very hard to take responsibility for myself because no-one else was going to. Anyway I'll potter off to the appropriate bits of the forum now...

It wasn't negative, I've simply implied it isn't good since you are not a trained professional. Taking responsibility for yourself is one thing, eligibility is another.

Thanks for the reply. I have been consistently let down by professionals for nearly ten years. I'm a PhD in another scientific field so I can read for myself and finally decided to take the plunge now I'm having a few months gap in work. I know not everyone is so fortunate but I think everyone is eligible to read and inform themselves, especially if they are having trouble finding what they need. It hasn't been much fun doing it on my own I can say that much. I'll let you know what the psych says, will probably have to wait a few months.

That's understandable, perhaps it is time to see other professionals who won't let you down.
I shall wait for a few months.
