For me, it helps me feel less alone, and to have that love is amazing. My cat is more alike a faithful dog! She always follows me around, she wags her tail when she's happy, she's very playful, she sleeps on my bed/cuddles with me, she meows when she misses me, she is so adorable and cute and loving. So tame too!
Before Ruby[my cat], I've had 3 hamsters, I still have a hamster now, he's lasted 2 and a bit years, I love animals and they do help you feel less alone, cats/dogs especially are very intune with you, and they can sense things, but they make you smile/laugh too.
I've got two cats. They are 1 years old, but I've had them since they were 6 weeks old and been in their lives since day 1. I made the male very cuddly by treating him like a baby, his sister isn't as cuddly but has her moments. When I'm down and upset they can actually sense it and do attempt to cheer me up. I don't normally tell them my issues but they can sorta sense it, which helps me.
You're better than this. Breathe in. Breathe out. It'll be okay. I promise. Just don't forget to smile :)
The funny thing is,
nobody really ever knows how much
anybody is hurting.
We could be standing next to somebody,
who is completely broken,
and we wouldn't even know.
Currently I have a Syrian hamster , a fish , a dog and i share a pony. Though I still live at home, the dog is a family dog and the others are all mine, they do take alot of looking after, time, money etc. But are so worth it. The only problem with my hamster is she can keep me awake at night and my dog.. well he thinks our house is 'his' house so he has to 'protect' it from anything, eg people walking past the house, other dogs, the post man.. I think he would bark at a fly if he saw it outside our house... And you can't beat going for a drag, litrally! He takes us for a walk not us taking him. Lol!
We have a rabbit and she definitely helps. We really need to get her a husbun after we can move though, as it's not really fair on her for her to be on her own all day if we're out...
We're probably going to end up with a small-animal zoo eventually, eyeing some degus at the moment hehe x
oh god yes. there are so many perfectly adoptable shelter animals that get put down due to numbers issues. and petstore breeders often buy (intentionally or not) from backyard breaders, who often help feed dogfighting >.>
With rodents, harder to adopt though. They have a shorter lifespan and usually don't get turned into ASPCAs/UK equivelant which I have no idea what it's called there
It is possible to adopt rats/mice/hamsters/degus/gerbils etc from the RSCPA as I looked into it myself before buying my last 3 petshop mice but the trouble wit that is, it's often difficult to know how old they are if they're not born in the centre so you don't really know how long you have with them. Also the number of RSPCA adoption centres that look after rodents is limited. That's what put me off, having to go 60-100 miles for some mice seemed unfair on the mice too

Haha we ended up with a lil zoo thing going on. Be careful getting a new bun. We took ours to meet some rabbits so we could select a cage mate for her and she got on beautifully with the one we picked...until we got them home, then they started fighting and we have to keep them seperate >.<
Yes pets can help a lot more than you think. A lot of times when I'm sad I just look at my little chinchilla and I either smile or feel a little bit of relief. If I were you I would get something you can interact with, that really helps with the loneliness.

I do that too! I treat Ruby like a little baby, like cuddling her, snuggling with her, rocking her in my arms/holding her in my arms, sleeping with her in my arms, heh! :P
