I *think* the main signature issue is that people [like myself] had links to their tumblr in their signature. That's what has to go, not the images/gifs, which don't link to anything.
I've never linked my tumblr and still enjoyed using it (before I got bored of the SI and ED pictures after every four clicks. :p). I enjoyed looking at photos and posting what I liked and had a few friends following me and that was fine. I don't really understand why losing a link on RYL is a big deal. This is cominf from someone who is unattached to tumblr, so I'm probably biased. :p

No, images from tumblr can be posted. They can be posted in sigs and on the forum. The images just can't be a clickable link to tumblr or your tumblr, unless I'm reading this wrong. Please mods feel free to correct me. :)

I am so pissed off with the people who cannot read the rules and have made me remove my tumblr which has nothing wrong with it.
I can't believe this. I actually can't. I love my tumblr. It is a big part of just. Me. I guess.
Although I'm now trying to rack my brains to think if I've been part of the rule breaking.
Because I barely come on RYL any more I don't think about the rules a lot, and so therefore I just reblog what I like. But, to be fair, it's mainly photos of Benedict Cumberbatch.

tumblr is a blogging site, but often instead of writing entries, people blog gifs and images that relate to how they feel, or just about stuff theyre interested in.
Mostly its pretty cool, it can be like a mix between 9gag and post secrets.
There are however of course the gifs and images that contain triggering content.
We have allowed for gifs and images from peoples tumblrs to be posted on the site as they appear just as an image rather than them clicking theough to a persons account.
The links to actual accounts are banned from signatures as all too often members had content that broke the rules here so you could be casually scrolling through and be like:
lol.. lolcat
mmm.. cake
zomg i so relate to that.

This doesn't effect me since I don't have a tumblr...but it is a shame. I like looking at tumblrs :(
But wasn't there talk some time ago about tumblr themselves removing graphic/triggering content? If that eventually IS the case could linking to tumblr be allowed again?
They only said they're clamping down on obviously pro-self-harm or pro-ED sites; to be honest, I'm still seeing just as much porn/SH/tiny women/gorey dead bodies/etc. flooding my dashboard as before. If it wasn't for all the pictures of cake, tumblr wouldn't be nearly as good...

Also, in actual legit thread-related news, that stunning little jpg I just posted is from tumblr, so if someone were to quote my post and be using chrome instead of firefox, they'd see the html and be able to copy paste the image location and they would then be on tumblr, essentially because of my post. Hence my question: am I even allowed to post that owl?
Would the link take them to the tumblr though, or just the image location?
Becuase if you just link the image (you know, like right clicking a facebook photo to get the direct link so that people don't get the unauthorised access thing and can actually see it) it shouldnt link to the whole blog.

There's no link to click, it would require copy-pasting, and if you do, it is just the image that comes up, but it has the word tumblr in the url.
The annoying thing is, I've just discovered Tumblr and am now disasterously addicted to it... I suppose it's a positive that I can't spam it all over RYL! ;)
