I'm not sure what the helping model is, but I'm doing a course on Counselling Skills at the moment so I don't know if I can be of any help?

In a person-centred counselling model, the listener (counsellor) is not directive - the speaker (client) sets all the goals and decides what it is that they want from the relationship. The listener does not impose their values/ideas/goals/structure upon the speaker instead, it is the speaker who dictates the direction in which the conversation goes and to what extent they change as a person through attending the sessions.

Does that help at all?

I've just done a peer support worker course!

Are you doing yours with the institute of mental health?

I have to say though I don't know what the helping model of support is?

I don't know anything about these things so not sure if I can be of use, but I wonder if a helping model of support is anything like how housing/community support workers work in mental health, which focuses more on helping support people practically in day-to-day living. Not sure though so maybe ask your tutor.

Wouldn't the helping model be a non-formal environment? Like, using counselling skills rather than formal counselling?
