Ami: I can sleep on modified release but not on regular - it's too much of an adrenaline hike in the evenings.

Duck: I was on 225 for a little bit, but was brought back down to 150 because it wasn't working as well for me. It exacerbated the tachycardia without making my mood noticeably better. FWIW, once you get over about 200mg it changes the way it acts on your brain - it acts on dopamine as well as serotonin, I think, or possibly the other way around (I'm tired and can't remember; I can look it up if you're curious.)

Yeah, I'd heard about dopamine. Bit worried it could make my voices worse.

I was on this and again I lost a bit of weight at the start. It stabilised me for about 2 months but then things went **** although in hindsight it was probably the situation not the meds.

I came off it cold turkey and it was evil. But saying that I managed to work a summer job through the withdrawel and brain zaps so couldn't have been too bad.

Xxx

Sorry to bump this thread but has anyone had any side effects like the following (trying to figure out whether its the Venlafaxine I'm on 400mg of and have been for a little while now):
-Feeling very physically weak, I mean dramatically so
-For want of a better word small involuntary 'jerks' of arms
-Feeling excessively hot/sweating a lot
-Legs feeling 'heavy'
-Developing a stutter/stammer/words not coming out right/finding speech in general a bit challenging

I very much don't want to have to come off this medication as it has done WONDERS for my mood and helping me be able to unravel some odd ideas I was having (in that I can now see that they are not correct) but if these experiences are side effects and won't go away don't fancy it.

I had the sweating, big time.

Glad it works for your mood though. :)

I had side effects just like that. It made me feel like I was on speed (what I imagine that to feel like) - I couldn't handle the side effects but if you can persevere with them then it's meant to be a very good medication x
