Wound Care Question - Stitches.

So I got stiches sometime last week and they told me to make a GP appointment to see the nurse after ten days so they can take out the stitches.

My question is well can't I just take them out myself? Is it really necessary to make this appointment?

Thanks all.

yes it is nescessary.

the wound could have not closed properly, there could be other problems, and the equipment they remove them with will be sterile medical equipment, so less chance of infection.

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

Absolutely not basically. You have to have someone professional do this.

I made this mistake and took my own out and the scar is huge and there is scarring like little dots either side where the stitches were so yeah I would recommend getting them done properly.
