help me...

I don't really know why i'm posting this, but i think that maybe getting it off my chest will help... who knows...
I just had a really **** day, being home alone does that to a person, and I took that as an opportunity to cut myself again. I know it is wrong, but i can't seem to stop, I start, and then i can't stop...
does anyone know of any ways to stop? because i am worried about what happens if i can't.

I highly suggest that you tell someone in real life so that you can get the help you really need, but other then that the only other thing you can do is to find reasons for stopping and to keep yourself distracted.

I am completely the same as you. i stop...then relapse...then stop...then, well you get it.

I don't know how to suggest you stop, but i do know you should not feel defeated. just cause you cut doesn't mean that you should not try to stop again.

cliche as it is, distraction is always the key to recovering. just find what works for you. my fave is CSI! or any tv in general!

Just keep at it. distraction only works if you want it to. and it is hard. but you can do it, but just persist. if you wanna stop it, it is like any vice. it addictive and its habitual but its not impossible to stop.

If you can't at first then don't feel bad. just keep on trying. you are human and not perfect but you are capable xx

It so so so hard to stop. I live alone so i know how it feels to not have to care if someone is around but, you will not always have someone around so sometime you will be alone. i know it is easy to do it but, don't use aloneness as an excuse to cut, cause it will be too easy.

Try talking to somebody you know personally (friend, boyfriend, parents, etc). I know its hard, but it will help you a lot.

I'm sorry you found the other day really difficult. How are you feeling now? Although the idea of stopping self-harm can feel really overwhelming it is possible to stop. However it is important to realise self-harm is a coping mechanism, even though it is unhealthy one is still one nonetheless. So you need to come up with some healthier coping mechanisms. Whether that is something like going for a run or ringing someone up when you are feeling distressed.

Before you prepare to stop you need to make the decision to stop for yourself and no one else. Some people find it really helpful to write a list of the reasons why they want to stop so that they can have a goal to work towards. Also this article on preparing to stop is worth a read as it explains how you can work towards stopping.

Another important thing to look at is what are the root issues behind your self-harm as often if we don't work on these the negative coping mechanisms continue to be something that we resort to.Lastly it is important to remember that sometimes we will slip up but try not to see it as a failure but instead something you can work on. Rather than giving up let it be a reason for you to keep fighting. Sticking to stopping is another great article that has useful information. When your finding the urges getting too much you might find it helpful to use some distractions such as these. All the best with everything.
