I remember the late 90s when a sizeable portion of the web only worked with IE. I was using Opera on Windows 3.11 running on a 486 with about 8MB of RAM and a 56K modem. I'd frequently find myself opening IE for a website that didn't work. Thank god for web standards.
These days it's Chromium on my desktop and Chrome on my laptop.
