Isn't Samoa now the first country to see in 2012 as they swapped over the international dateline missing out Friday!?
Happy new years there's 55 mins to go in Beijing but as the rest of the family have gone to bed I'm going to head that way now!

Think it is still New Zealand, because Tokelau (a NZ territory) would be the first to see in the New Year. But if you don't count that, then it would be Samoa.
