Phones4u - Insurance - Policy Admin Serv

Hi,

So tonight I have discovered that the lovely people at Phones 4 U have been charging me £9.99 a month for the past 16 months for phone insurance which I never asked for and I never wanted.

I signed up for my contract way back in August 2010, and as part of my contact the lovely man at phones 4 u offered me 3 months free phone insurance. I thought it's free.. why not. He explained that after the 3 months were up the insurance would automatically be cancelled and I didn't have to do anything.

So life went on and I never thought about it.

And tonight, after checking over my bank statement I noticed 'Policy Admin Serv' coming up... once a month... on around the same date. I thought it might be bank charges or something, but after a quick google.. nope.... phone insurance.

Has anyone had this happen to them? What did you do about it?

I've cancelled the direct debit now. And I'm going to the bank, and phones 4 u first thing tomorrow.

I'm so angry at myself for not noticing sooner (I do check my statements, but I often spend £9.99 so never thought much of it) and for them taking my money when I never authorised it.

I had that, only got round to canceling it last month, then they called me and said they were going to reaply for the direct debit and tried to con me into signing up with them again, pirates i says!
Now i've got cover from protect my bubble which is £2 more and it covers my phone tablet laptop and ps3.

Phone companies add those lil extras all the time without asking. I looked one day and saw Verizon was charging me for call forwarding and *69 (trace missed call) - things I never used or asked for. It was all around 20 dollars/10 quid a month.

something similar happened to me. I phoned and complained.. and when that person didnt seem to get it, i asked to speak to the boss and i complained until they agreed to refund me all my money.

Who did you complain to charlie? Phones4u? Policy admin?

I'm only just home for christmas and all my documents aren't here. urgh. not a good start to christmas home times. :(

i complained to phones for you.

Told them their sales man had ****ed up by signing me up for it and id only just noticed cos i am saving the environment and not getting paper bills.

I knew i had it i wanted cover out the door i planned to get something cheaper and cancel it after a week, unfortunately it took me 8 months to get round to it :P

Yeah, good luck. Make sure you emphasise how the guy who signed you up did say it would be cancelled automatically and how that's misselling of an item, which is illegal blah blah blah.
