GP Surgery cocked up again

Now this isn't the first time they have dispensed the wrong meds but this is a new low.

Wednesday I rang up the dispensary to order my pills, now its a new higher dose and I asked for the correct stuff, yeah no probs ready at the chemist on Friday.

Friday I tronk on up there to find they have given me the old lower dose so after speaking the the Chemist he said i should go poke the surgery. So I go up there and get told theres nothing they can do I have to contact my shrink to sort it out. Now thoroughly pissed off because I have things to do and I know the shrink travels all over the county *sigh*.

I go back there with my copy of the letter they had to point out that it did actually tell them my new dose.

Oh I just spoke to Dr. C about this and he said he would get it sorted.

During all this I pointed out to them that I haven't got enough meds for the weekend and how bad it would be for me not to have them.

Guess what today I am going cold turkey because they never did sort it out.

Bastards didn't seem to think it was their problem well if come tomorrow I'm feeling like a turd i might feel the need to go put my ipod on and lie in the middle of the waiting room until they sort it out.

Feeling a bit fuzzy but not too bad yet.

Sorry just wanted to have a moan about the stupidity of the bloody people

Can you not at least manage the new dose by cutting pills in half or something - until they sort it out?

I feel for you, when I was put on mirtaz, I literally went to EVERY pharmacy in the high street before I found one that had the right dose! I know not the same situation, but meds + wrongness/confusion can = effects on mental health.

They have to sort this out. It's a health risk if they don't.

Ive had that happen before, Boots gave me the wrong dosage and as i went home for a few weeks and couldnt go back to the shop they told me nothing they could do. Called up the docs to see if i could get one faxed through and spoke to the person who said to call back, called back and they where like wtf we dont know who you spoke to. Long story short they did faff all.

But if your low on meds can you not turn up to hospital and explain?

Hmm, whenever I get a change in dose or meds, I always go and speak to the GP first, to ensure they have received the letter and get the first prescription from them direct.

From then on, it should be on the repeat which can be got straight from the pharmacy.

no well after all the problems and wotnot my lovely pharmacist has dealt with it (after i had a mass breakdown on him). From now on he has said i am to deal with him when i need repeat so as to avoid missed doses and such chaos.

One of the pluses of living in a small town, he has taken my number and is ensuring i always have enough meds.

and this morning he even asked mother if i was ok and said it should never be allowed to happen again. Thankfully someone understands that i need my meds.

and thank you robien for asking x

I'm so glad that it got sorted, and that the pharmacist is on your side.

Your experience is not unique and you had a good reason to rant.

This has become more indicative of GP surgeries whereby they won't prescribe unless they get a written letter from the PSych. They refuse to use their initiative as prescribing doctors because they don't want the responsibility.

GP's attitudes have changed over the years and have gone from bad to worse since signing new Government contracts whereby they get in excess of £100k wages a year and sit on their fat arses.

The receptionists for the doctors aren't any better at my surgery...

thanks synapse, its definatley not unique at this surgery, the dispensery lady is rude and if they had just called the shrink or even listened to a word they said it could have been avoided.

went to ask my lovely chemist for a refill because i only had enough for a week on seroquel so hes off to beat someone with sticks

*sigh*

more trouble at mill.

chemist just spoke to me, apparently the gp surgery are now asking that i get the hospital (aka the shrink) to do all my future scripts, right only problem is either i have to go get them from the hospital or get them to post my scripts. Thats fine except it took them a month to write the letter to the surgery about my med changes.

Sigh so now i have to phone them monday and see if i can sort this out. *sigh*

Are you on meds that need to be prescribed by a psych or are they standard meds used for mental health? It all just sounds a strange and complicated way of doing things...and stressful for you which isnt right.
I get my scripts from the doctor and if hes not in another parner will sign it..have to give three days notice...but it works well..

I really hope you can get this sorted Claire xx
