Need Some Advice
Well I got a call today, and the people I'd been sent to apparently don't offer therapy any more because of funding cuts. I then broke down crying in the middle of a shop with my mum, who has had enough of watching me jump through hoops, beg, plead and get nowhere. She has said she will pay for me to get treated privately. I have a doctor's appointment in two weeks time, and I'll be asking him about this and where we go from there. But I was wondering if any one here has gone down this route and any advice or where to start.
Thanks
Willow x

At my GP's surgery they have a 'Link Worker' - I think that was it anyway! He talked with me for about an hour (it was pretty draining!) and then he talked me through therapy options and what he considered would be best for me. He then gave me phone numbers for counselling, CBT etc. along with his own personal recommendations which was really helpful and I now see a counsellor privately. Perhaps you or your mum could look into whether your surgery offer this? Good luck and take care. Bx

Funding cuts make me angry! Glad that your Mum is supporting you though.
Therapies essentially fall into the categories of counselling, psychotherapy, and CBT. It's worth looking them up and trying to get a sense of the differences. (In my experience "counselling" is of less value in dealing with anything severe and deep-rooted.) How well you get on with the individual therapist is really key though - and it should be ok for you to have an meeting before you commit to a course of treatment with someone. If you have specific issues (I don't know you but for instance with eating, or with self-harming) it's worth asking if the therapist has experience in treating people with these types of problems.
Good luck

Thanks so much for the help and the support. I'll be going through those sites with my mum tomorrow, and talking through my options with my GP. I never thought it would be so hard to get help.
And funding cuts make me mad too! My mum's been great lately.
