Presuming you can walk on it wait and see. If you can't or are really struggling to/ it doesn't feel stable then go to your local A&E/ ER.
If it isn't that bad then the best thing to do is follow RICE which is rest, ice (use ice; often frozen peas or similar are the best things to use though once you've used them for this purpose they won't be suitable to be eaten (surrounded by a damp towel) on the area for up to 15mins every hour. This will help to take down any swelling as well as numbing the nerve endings after the first couple of minutes), compression (put a correctly sized tubigrip (size D for small knees, size E for normal knees or F for large knees) wrap and ACEwrap around the area though remove these at night.) and Elevation; keep your foot up.
I'd also suggest taking Ibuprofen and/ or Paracetamol depending whether you have any reasons why you can't take them (other meds/ medical conditions). Take them as said on the box/ leaflet. Ibuprofen would be the best to start off with as that will help to reduce the swelling and also the pain presuming you can take that. Then if you still need something else and you can take paracetamol then take this about 2hours after you've taken the Ibuprofen as that should mean you always have a drug going around in your body to help with the pain. If this does get rid of the pain don't forget you are still injured so don't overdo it.
If it doesn't improve within the next 48hrs or worsens then get medical attention. You can do damage to the area without seeing much in the way of bruising on the surface.
