Just bare in mind that in the UK if you begin a job after you are pregnant then they dont have to offer you the usual maternity stuff. Dont know if this is the same for the US but i know i couldnt cope money wise if i didnt get SMP while off work.
Maybe if you find out you are not pregnant this time it might be a good idea to hold off until you are in a better financial position maybe with some savings etc? Just babies can be incredibly expensive.
Me and my hubby are both on really good wages and we still end up struggling at the end of the month, which will be even worse with a baby.
I'm sitting here typing and bubs is kicking away at my tummy. Its so cute.
I'm really pleased with myself because being overweight i was scared that id pile it on when i was getting bigger and even though my tummy is expanding rapidly and my boobs are huge (haha) i've stayed almost exactly the same weight. I feel like its quite an achievement for me considering how much i've struggled with my weight in the past.
I am having some issues, but they're not really for this thread.

But yeah :)
I'll still get maternity leave. I will just tell them that I didn't know I was pregnant.
If I'm not me and my fiance are going the abstinence route and I might get on BC. but BC pills messed me up bad a couple of years ago. I didn't get a period for 6 months.
However, my fiance and I picked out names already
Sarah Grace if its a girl and Phoenix Hawthorne if it's a boy.
aww mrs sam, im being kicked in the stomach too as i post its cute but a tad annoying as he seems to wake up whenever i go to sleep lol. i think you should be proud of yourself, its hard to not just pile on the pounds when pregnant and think "right im pregnant i can eat as much as i want and then juist loose it afterwards"
i think with maternity leave and starting a job when pregnant they still have a right not to pay you if you are pregnant and you not know because (in the uk) you have to of been working for them for 6 months before you are 20 weeks pregnant or you are not entilted to it. also it depends how many hours you do and how much you earn. so for example i only do 12 hours a week so am not entitled to it but i think (i dont know yet) my work will still pay me it. if they dont though i can apply for maturnity allowance from the government because i still have a job, if i didnt have a job at all i dont think i would entitled to any maturnity money at all. but thats just the uk it might be different in the US maybe get a book about it from the libary or something?
I don't know if this thread is only for those that are carrying the lil ones, or if the daddies can be a part of it too. If the daddies can participate, then I'll be coming around a bit. (that is, when i am able to pull myself away from school work)
My wife and I are now 10 weeks along, had our first ultrasound 4 weeks ago. the youngling was smaller than a jelly bean at the time, but they were still able to pick up a heartbeat on the machine. I think thats pretty crazy. We told both of our parents last week and they all seem excited (except for my father in law, but he never liked kids even though he had 6 of them)
We've picked out names but I am not allowed to tell anyone what they are until after its on the birth certificate.
Yuppers. We're pretty excited.

I know its just me being daft but i havent felt the little man moving in 24 hours. I've tried drinking cold water etc but it doesnt seem to be making him move.
I'm on 21 weeks but i've felt him move at least once a day especially on a morning/ evening so its odd he hasn't had a wriggle.
congrats Brian :) its nice to see a male on here also. be able to find out the daddy perspective of things.
i feel the kicking all the time but it stopped for a while. turned out the baby had changed position. the last time i saw the scan bubs was on his/her hands and knees. perfect photo of spine but couldnt get any of the face and i ended up with bruising from sonographer trying to get profile picture.
unfortunatly my hospital wouldnt tell me the gender i have a private scan booked in for july 19th. will be told gender then plus see the baby in 3D and get a lot of pictures to take home :D i really cannot wait.
iv started thinkn bout labour....oh dear is all i can say. i dont know how i am going to go through labour. i hate showing that im in pain of crying out cuz of pain.
shellz i reckon you wont care about showing your pain! i mean there will be so many more worries than that! i have to keep reminding myself that things that are scaring me now when im pain free and normal (ish) probably wont even cross my mind in labour, prioties change i guess.
you'll have to show us the 3D pictures as im always curious about what they're actually like.
hi brian, feel free to post your more then welcome.
shelz, glad to hear the baby had just changed position and there were no problems. could they not tell you the sex because of its position then? thats a shame. i hope your private scan goes well, i would love a 3d scan but they are too expensive for us.
i saw my midwife and told her about my itchy hands and feet and she said that later on in pregnancy it can be a sing of liver problems and that she was annoyed my doctor had treated me i was stupid. so i felt abit better being told i wanst an idiot. she also wondered why i hadnt seen an obstritian (or however you spell it) so im getting a new appointment booked. i also booked my tour of the maturnity ward for spetember which is exciting but also scary! eep
shelz when you're in labour until you have pain relief you wont be able to not make some kind of noises! a lot of places wont give you pain stuff til your past 4cm as well as labour can stop and start up to 4cm. i did ella's birth on just gas and air, next time i'm getting an epi straight away lol!!!! if anyone wants to try for gas and air/no pain meds - go for it but the next baby you have you'll probably decide it wasn't worth it lol!

my hospital does visits, antenatal classes and then my midwife also runs breastfeeding classes, parentcraft (which i presume is how to look after a baby although making baby stuff would be much more fun!) and aquanatal.
this area actually seems really good for community stuff.
I'm worried about epi's because i'd like to move around a lot in labour and i wouldnt be able to. plus i dont want a catheter/drip/tubes permanently attached to them. None of my family had anything but gas and air and they're all happy with stuff.
To anyone worried about labour can I quickly recommend hypnobirthing/natal hypnotherapy? I can't speak highly enough about it, I had a pain free (and unassisted) labour at home.. I also ate the placenta, so make of that what you will ;) It was the most amazing experience of my life, and I now thoroughly believe that birth doesn't have to be in any way painful.. a lot of pain comes through fear and the tension that fear brings about.
There are quite a few good books around that changed the way I view pregnancy and birth too, Ina May Gaskin is worth a read. I know it can seem a bit 'hippyish' and realise it's not for everyone but it can't hurt to mention!
I had gas and air with Oliver, obviously nothing with Poppy, and a water birth with both - and the different that being at home and using hypnotherapy made was astounding. Oliver's birth was incredibly painful and I felt very overwhelmed, Poppy's was calm, peaceful and I was totally in control the whole way through.
I think I've already talked about it on this thread actually, but oh well - if it helps one person to believe in the incredible power of their body and take control of their baby's birth then I will keep wittering on about it :P

I was 4cm when i arrived, and baby arrived 90min later,
i had gas and air and the pool, it was great, try not to get stressed about it and enjoy being pregnant, everyone is different and each birth is unique, but my best advice is to stay mobile, walk as much as you can, xx
and all you mummys to be, good luck when the time comes
Sam you can in some pleaces have what is called a mobile epidural - its an epidural without the dead legs, you have to be in bed for the first i think 30mins then if you're steady on your feet oyu're allowed out of bed, worth asking, get all the options infront of oyu so oyu can research them all and make informed choices.

I was wondering if anyone had tried a Sophie Giraffe for teething? A friend mentioned it yesterday and said that her son really enjoys using it and was wondering if it was worth getting one for Faith?
Poppy has one, she's not really that bothered by it. She's only 4 months though so it might be more popular with older ones - I just don't like it because it reminds me of a dog toy!
