I decided i was going to be brave and go and see i loved it .
a few parts made me want to look away and it wasn't as triggering as i though it would be.
My husband never though much of it as its not his kind of film .
I cant wait till it comes out on DVD
I saw it and I thought it was pretty good. I didn't really cringe at anything but I'm a horror movie freak so that might be why I liked how they portrayed her increasingly unstable mental state, Natalie Portman played the role very well.
okay so i watched it last night and didnt even get to the end it freaked me out big time im a little chicen when it comes to freakiy r scarey stuff
also thought this film to be considered quiet triggering but the thing is i did start to enjoy it and to scared to watch the rest
young girl its alright your tears will soon dry your soon be free to fly
she's falling from grace , she's all over the place..............
i watched it for the 3rd time the other day. i jut love it. The director is very psychologically tuned in it seems. If youhave seen the Wrestler you can see his understanding of pain and depression. Its a real eye-opener.
~Phoenix~ is my Little Sister of Awesomeness and Self-Delusion :P Bitter Angel is my Mitten Animad is my Top Trump All Im Living For - Is my beautiful and special daughter who isnt called Kim but will moan if i dont add her :P
I watched it a few weeks ago, and waited for the "OH THIS IS AWESOME" that everybody had been raving about to happen. And it didnt. Thought it was incredibly boring to be honest!

You never tell me what it is that makes you strong and what it is that makes you weak.
^ Lol, it kind of sucks seeing a movie after you're read all the hype about it. It kind of raises your expectations to unrealistic levels, and the movie always ends up being a let-down. That's what happened to me the first time I saw Lost in Translation. Everyone was like, "OMG THIS MOVIE IS SO GREAT!!!" and I thought it was lame (and that Scarlett Johansson is the exact same annoying character in every movie, but that's a topic for another time...)

I watched it tonight and that's exactly how I felt!
Is that seriously you? Because then you really look like one of my ex best friends! Gee, that's weird!

Mom won't let me see it.......it's killing me! I'm a dancer, have been for 13 years (i'm 16) and deal with SH, ED, and perfectionism. GAH! I have to see it!

Why? Remove the MH stuff - why do you have to see it? If it's because you want to relate to it, I don't think that's a fair reason to watch the film; if it's because you want to acknowledge the dancing, why don't you see Swan Lake on stage (as it's far better than the film)?
I guess I don't see why any of this correlates to a need to watch the film... ?

I'm with you on that one! In fact I didn't even bother staying to watch it all....

This.
Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world awaits in darkness for the light that is you.
I really like Darren Aronofsky as a director, his work portrayed in The Wrestler and Requiem for a dream is fantastic. So yeah, I've been wanting to see Black Swan for a while now. I may pick it up on DVD soonish. I don't like ballet or dislike it really, but I'd watch it mainly for the psychological aspects and the director.
When I watched it with my family, it freaked me out to the point where we had to turn it off when the girls were having dinner... It was just so creepy!
I didn't get the hype either. I didn't think it was a BAD film, by any means. I enjoyed it, even if parts of it made me uncomfortable. I guess I just wasn't impressed by the story, really. I mean, it's been done. Girl is pressured to be perfect due to dance/music/modeling/art/whatever, girl cracks under pressure, girl goes nuts. It happens in various degrees, of course, but it's nothing particularly new.
That being said, I do wholeheartedly believe that Natalie Portman deserved that Oscar she got for this movie. Definitely the best acting I've ever seen her do.
Duct tape is like The Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
