Winterbourne View

I have lived not far from this what i would call torture club in fact a job once done would take me to the Social services who are also based on the same estate more or less in front of this hospital. It was shocking to see some of these events taking place and knowing that i was more or less a stone throw away from these unfortunate patients who were suffering at the hands of bullies and downright scum.
I looked through the Inspection Report - 24 March 2009 which can be found here and it makes good reading as more or less everything had not even been checked on.
Both reports are here and one should take a good read through it.
http://healthdirectory.cqc.org.uk/fi...content_view_1
Now i ask a question or two? Why is it that these careres are not qualified or at least have some sort of accreditation. And also have they all been CRB checked? I would have thought that a CRB check would have been necessary for those sorts of roles.
I also want to know that guy Wayne i think it was the Tattooed scum bag, why was he allowed to dress in the fasion he was dressed as though he was going out to some bikers convention, I can understand the reasons for casual dress as it does not make it look like and institution and probably relaxes in some way the patients being cared for. However his dress was totally wrong and should have been stamped on immediately. The guy was an obvious bully and scumbag who took great joy at inflicting pain and misery on those patients when the checks were carried out on that hospital it is more than likely that the patients were asked about their treatment but probably scared stiff to say anything, i mean you only have to see what those people who were in a duty of care were doing to them, this means the patients would be difficult to trust anyone in that enviroment.
Nearly all the staff featured in this programme who were handing out this violence sounded very thick really i would not put them in charge of my dog let alone people. I mean who the bloody hell interviews these loons and how can they be paid £16,000 per year and act like that? This is a job i could do quite easy and its a shame i was not there because that Wayne guy would have been on his ass. Yes as the programmed quite rightly highlighted how many other Winterbourne Views are there in the country. These organisations like the CQC they admit yes we made mistakes bla bla bla and we appologise is usually the norm these days, but no appology is not good enough and who ever is in charge of that organisation and those who ignored repeated requests to do something about this should be bloody well sacked! Its too easy these days to say sorry and then walk away and do nothing about it. If i were the parent of any those patients i would now be launching a legal bid to sue all those involved and get my money back and compensation, not just have the Police involved. Everyone here involved deserve to be strung up for the horrendous behaviour of those who are in the duty of care. The patients seen in this documentary were more like cattle and were not given decent human rights. I am glad the whistle blower took this further and it is to him that everyone owes gratitude for in the fact that he has brought this to light.I am sad very sad that it is unfortunate that we do have others like Winterbourne View around the country and it just leaves you with horrifying thoughts of what some people maybe going through, that i do not just mean those who have Mental difficulties, i also mean the elderly also.I will say this all those who were caught handing out their vicious cruel behaviour to those weaker then themselves i hope that one day they end up somewhere when they cannot even take a crap without help i hope they bloody suffer. And Wayne you are a scum bag you piece of ****!

I watched this the other day, and felt physially sick I was that angry and upset.

Can't say any more than that really. It's just disgusting.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

I couldnt watch it all, it made me feel sick:/
Not to mention really angry that it got over looked till this got shown.

But some people really do make me sick, i mean it was their home. They were supposed to feel safe.

I watched the entire thing just now and I know what hurt me the most was the parents' responses. Their kids were taken away because the parents were deemed unfit to care for their needs. But where was the follow up? Just because a person has mental abilities of 4 in a 40 year old body does mean that they should be denied basic human rights.

On the professional side- after the journalist and the ring leader forcibly removed the fairy world lady from her bed, the ring leader- with all his tatoos- cooked up this really eloquent fictious report for the patient records. That's why the authorities are duped. They train yobs to beat the system.

And honestly I am in no way condoning the charge nurses- but it is one or the other- a cushy job you don't want to screw up, or you are burnt out and have stopped caring. And there is no way a senior support worker could have no training. Castlebeck screwed up somewhere with employment. There should be on going training in restraint etc.

Basically there needs to be a watchdog for patients. Someone to advocate for them. Castlebeck should be closed down/ sued. Was it something like $200-2000 pounds compensation and the full abuse never disclosed to the parents of the wheelchair bound victim??!!

It is like warehousing prisoners. Admit them and collect money. No body cares what is going on inside. Is there a consequence for all those carers who were "trying their best"? They should at least be given remedial training.

The clip that upset me the most was the one where they showed an old asylum. I heard of a journalist that tried to expose something like that and almost got locked up in one of the rooms by the staff. No one appreciates how dangerous that was. A staff member could have seriously harmed him or even killed him and blamed it on a patient.

I am worried about what those people are doing walking around with just a "job suspension".

The whole thing really made me anger and upset me but what i still find hard is that ok the staff shouldn't have been employed, that hospital should be closed down. I hated how the stass used restraint as there first option and it wasn't even done correctly. But how a charge nurse of ..if i remember rightly something like 35 years experience didn't even tell the staff of. How the hell was he even made charge nurse and the whistleblower how come he had to go to the BBC in order to get the people above him, can't remeber what it is to listen to him it's a joke.

Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money.
They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
