The Dark Crystal by Jim Henson (yes, mr cuddly Muppet man)
Am I alone in both remembering this film from my childhood and being utterly TERRIFIED by it?
I've just ordered it (along with Labyrinth and Legend) because I am clearly insane and want to scare myself silly. And my boyfriend hasn't seen any of them.
This is the film that scares me most, even as an adult, along with The Secret of Nihm. Oh the rats... the spider... Nothing modern, horror films, genuinely scary stuff, has ever scared me anywhere near as much.
You can youtube them yourself, I'm in an ok mood and I don't want to be scared!
What films scared you as a child/still scare you? Am I a solitary wuss in being terrified by a cartoon and puppets?

A bit of the Muppet's Christmas carol gave me recurring nightmares or years, remember when the door knocker turns into Jacob Marley? Freaked me out. There was something I watched lately that scared me so much, I don't actually remember what it was though- why do they do that?!
I can't really think of any films that scared me as a child, but then I was watching The Terminator and T2 from well before starting school. The only part I didn't like was the start with the skeletal Terminator in the fire and the music.
Maybe I've been desensitised. I remember not liking Gremlins or Short Circuit because they upset me, not because they were scary.
I have seen all these films. Clearly my parents (or me?) were sadists... I also saw the cartoon version of Animal Farm repeatedly from the age of about 3-8. It was the only "kids film" bar Songs of the South that my grandparents had...
ETA, Does anyone remember The Black Cauldron? Why am I so scared of kids films?!?

I can't remember an entire movie that scared me, but there were definitely parts that did. I was scared of the part of Snow White when she was lost in the woods, and the part of the Wizard of Oz when the monkeys attack the group.

Thing is I'm not really scared by films now, except these ones! They have me litrally hiding behind the sofa.
We had to leave the cinema when we went to see Jumanji as my brother freaked out about the giant mosquitos. When we tried to watch the whole thing again years later at home it was me who had to be coaxed out of the bathroom because of the spiders...
They don't make kids films like that anymore

CORALINE!! It is truelly terrifying, especially for children. I took a group of young people with autism aged between 9 and 13 to see it. One child had to leave, one child full on cried, two children spent the entire film behind there hands and the others were alright with it... Oh, apart from the one little lad that slept through it, haha. A successful activity outing... haha

There's one called The Last Unicorn, which I watched when I was very little and it scared the hell out of me. I'd forgotten about it right up until now D:

Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money.
They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
