Congratulations Shivonie! He's a big boy! Do you have a name for him yet? Did they suggest iron tablets? How are you settling in to being a mummy?

Just want to give you all an update on Faith as I realised its been a while since I said anything...

When she was last weighed, she was weighing 18lb 15oz! We're on three meals a day, sleeping in her own room (some nights all night, other nights not!) Still no teeth though!

Just wondering...Did any of you have trouble with your babies taking bed time bottles? Faith usually has a bottle at half 7 before bed at night and there's been quite a few days where she's point blank refused it (apart from last night and tonight as of recently).

Also how many bottles a day were yours on by 8 months? Faith has cut herself down to 3 7oz bottles (sometimes less) a day...Is that okay for her or should I try and get her to take more?

Hope you're all doing well.
Nic.

Hey Nic

Sounds like faith is doing well, I wouldent really worry about what she is taking as long as her weight is following her percentile graph in the red book

Saul takes 9oz in the morning, 5oz mid morning and 5oz mid afternoon.

we were giving him a bottle at bed time but were throwing more of it away, so we started giving him cows milk as he only really took 1oz if that, and we figured we could keep it in the fridge, rather than the formula we kept having to toss, then we were like, why are we forcing this if he doesen't want it so now we don't bother

we have a friend who is almost 11months and she has no teeth yet, they will come when they are ready, one of the mums was saying today, the longer they take to come through the stronger they are, no idea if thats true or not.

and

Shivone, big congratulations, and wow thats a big boy!!!!

Thanks for that Debbie.

Yesterday she had a bottle through the night and then didn't had another one until bedtime last night which she drank all of. Things might be a bit different tonight because we're flying and waiting to board when its bedtime so I might hold of on her bottle until we are on the plane.

I'm not extremely worried about her teeth as they are pressing on her gums.

We can't seem to manage to get her to take lumpy or textured food. It has to be completely smooth but we are still trying.

I didn't feel anything until after I took my pregnancy test and it came back positive. Dunno if I was feeling sick from the shock or because I was pregnant though.

Congratulations Shivonie, :) Bet your so happy to meet him,any names yet??

Sorry Nic,I don't really know how much Cathryn took in oz as she was breastfed but I found weaning hard in terms of solid/textured food till she was about 13months,but even then introduced it slowly. Was about 15months and after I'd stopped breasfeeeding before she was fully weaned.

BreelovesStephen~ I felt sick/tired from pretty much day one, went to the doctors after about two weeks of solid throwing up thinking I had food poisoning, found out I was about 3/4 weeks pregnant lol.

Nic,
will she take finger foods? saul loves to feed himself, cant help more than that as now he eats the same as us most of the time, i still puree or chop the meat finely, as he only has 2 teeth on the bottom, not really enough to chew.

My boobs were really sore from about week one, and strangely i started taking sugar in my tea, before i had even done a test, and as soon as he was born i could not drink tea if it had sugar

i've had no problems with textures or lumpy food as i never gave them pureed to start with. ella struggles to stay awake for her night-time milk but refuses to drink any large amount of anything from a cup, we've tried several including the feeder beakers, the 360 cups and a sports cap type of cup where you have to suck (not too hard) to get it to come out, its got a soft spout so its not hard on her gums but she won't take more than a few mouthfuls.

as for teeth, ella is 16months and is just getting her 7th and 8th teeth. chloe is 3 in april and is still cutting her last 4. mand x

Just wanted to give a quick update that our little girl Poppy (named by Oliver!) was born at 5.40am yesterday morning, 7lbs 9

My waters went at 10pm on valentines day, and it was an amazing experience - so peaceful and mostly a painfree labour, and she was born straight into my arms - I can totally recommend hypnobirthing!

The midwife arrived half an hour later and we did end up in the hospital for a few hours as her temperature was a bit low, but she's absolutely perfect

Thanks to those who answeredd me;
I'm so confusedd about what's going on with me. I've been feeling "symptoms" since like day two after sex. I'm not sure what to make of it, I don't know if it's pregnancy or some other unknown reason. I know that I'll find out when I can take a test but I've still got another week till I can take a test and get accurate results.

&& congrats to Kelly, you're baby is adorable.

Hey ladies,

Hope your all well? Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with a baby who has colic?? My little man has been diagnosed with it & given colief drops after Ive tried pretty much everything else. He's just had his milk changed to the comfort milk & doesn't seem to be screaming at night as much (or wasnt last night!) but now seems to be doing it all day.

He's also very very windy, but won't bring it up & cries when it comes out the other end! :( ive tried infacol, dentinox, gripe water which seem to help for a couple of days, then stop & he's refusing to sleep in his bed, only sleeping on me or in my bed.

He's also tried infant gaviscon as a doctor thought it was reflux but there was no improvement there! I'm struggling with the lack of sleep & hate seeing him like he is - he's not getting enough sleep either as keeps waking himself up whenever he farts. :(

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks ladies xxx

Try baby massage. If you look it up on the internet you shoud find ways to do it. Its meant to be really good for colicy babies.
Try rubbing his tummy in a clockwise direction quite firmly.
Can you give him the infacol and the colief drops at the same time?

As for the sleeping, Faith was exactly the same. She would only sleep on me. Do you swaddle? If not try swaddling. You can get blankets with velcro that keep the blanket together. In the end, with Faith, we had to wait until she was asleep for a good 30-45 minutes before putting her down in her bed at night. We've now managed to work this onto putting her down in her cot so she falls asleep by herself.

Hope some of this helps.

Nic

a true fact is sometimes babys get colic because of the type of bottle they drink out of their are special bottles they are exspensive mind you but they stop the baby from getting colic
i only know this as one of my brothers had it and my mum was told when she become pregnant again to use this special bottles and none of the rest of me and my borthers and sisters got colic and theres (6) of us soon to be 7 today as mum has gone hospitial bout to give birth
i know im not a mum but i knew a few things or two

young girl its alright your tears will soon dry your soon be free to fly

Thanks for the reply Nic & forgivemenot - I appreciate it!
i've been told i can give him the infacol & colief drops at the same time so have been doing that, but there's been no improvement.

I've tried massage etc and it hasn't seemed to help, only way he's asleep atm is in his car seat, but I took him to A&E last night when he was screaming the place down and his temp was high, to be told he has a bug aswell as colic, so that may be why he's so upset atm.

I've just bought Dr brown bottles as they've been recommended by a few people, and im hoping they'll help.

I used to think the worst pain in the world was labour, i've now learnt it's not - It's seeing your baby in pain, and not being able to take it away. :( The hospital said I can give him a very small dose of calpol, if his temp goes up like it did last night.

I'll look up baby massage to see if theres any other ways i can do it that may be of use for the colic - I've tried swaddling in a blanket, but he somehow seems to get out or hate it - I'm consdering buying one of the velro swaddling ones as have seen them in mothercare this afternoon.

Thanks for your help Nic & forgetmenot, & sorry this went to a ramble - I started typing it at 3am shortly before he woke up, and had to ammend after I had the new reply :)

forgetme not - ANY advice is appreciated, mum or not - you do know a thing or to, and your help is SO appreciated.

Louise xx
