It depends what sort of date you're after. If you want a nice cheesy easy-to-watch movie, totally not that. If you want something that provokes discussion and opinions, it's a brill film for that.

This is a great film. I actually felt like I'd done some kind of drug after watching it; everything felt surreal.
Plus I'm really freaked out at the moment because I have a bit of loose skin on my finger

We've had coversations about the purging before; basically, it really depends on what you think of it. I think that if you go in with a neutral, non-mental aspect, you'd think she was just being sick because of anxiety (which would be completely natural). Howevs, if you're used to looking out for MH stuff, it's also natural you'd think it was to do with ED stuff. The big thing about her not eating cake was a big thing, but then, it was also anxiety stuff so it's hard to know what to place it down to.

I think if you're looking for ED stuff, it's laden with it, but if (like me) you go in with a neutral mindset you have to fight to find ED stuff.

I just think it has to do with ED because I know from experience so many ballerinas are pressurised to be a certain weight to be "perfct" - and also that scene where the dress maker tells her she's lost weight and she looks really happy about that.

just because you've forgotten doesn't mean you're forgiven

Yeah, but Chloe, that's from your experience as a ballerina and as somebody with an ED (which puts you in a very small % of the overall population). What I was saying before is that perceptions are screwed - in every way - because of past experience, or lack thereof. If you're watching the film expecting an ED, you'll see one, and you'll see her purging. If you're seeing an overly anxious dancer, with concerns already about her performance, you'll see somebody riddled with anxiety. Either way, it depends on what you're expecting.

Although I think that everybody is a little grossed out by how skinny some people in that film are. Howevs, a lot of my friends put that down to Hollywood, rather than the film - although, obvs, the film came into it.

I really enjoyed Black Swan, definitely one for my dvd collection! I don't know why but this film had me completely taken in, couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I didn't find it triggering, but it did make me cringe a few times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I really loved it, it was brilliant. I didn't find it confusing at all, I knew what was going on...loved the imagery and how they used shadows and reflections in mirrors to tell us what was going on...that battle of the duality we have inside. We each have two sides to us. A lot of the scenes focused on showing that duality and I was so thrilled with the way they made it. I'm definitely buying this one.

Completely agreed. These are two of my top films as well.

Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world awaits in darkness for the light that is you.

I really want to see this film i have herd so much about it.
The only problem is i get my husband to check all films before i watch them for any triggers like self injury , rape and other things that could trigger me .
I know i should be watching films with out my husband doing that but i just dont want to get triggered badly.
I know from what i read that there is a scene were she self injures so am prepared for that part but am not sure if there are any other triggers there.
