Medication side effects are taking their toll.
Yesterday (Saturday) I was rushed to hospital with severe stabbing pains in my chest and difficulty breathing. After blood tests and about a million questions I was taken through triage and into a private cubicle. When changed into my hospital gown I had a chest X-Ray done after waiting for about 2 hours and the pains weren't going anywhere.
Earlier that day I had been at dance school teaching the younger classes and squeezing in a few of my own dances in between. I love dancing but the only thing that stops me from time to time is my asthma. I try not to let it stop me from dancing too much but it does happen sometimes.
After the X-Ray and blood tests etc, they told me that I had Pleurisy and I was given a strong dose of medication to take for the next 5-6 days. I took 2 tablets before I went to bed like it said on the leaflet and after reading the symptoms list I'm starting to notice them happening.
I'm feeling drowsy and really sick, can't sleep and i'm often getting things confused. It's awful and the pain is unbearable. My mum is talking about me taking time off College on Monday to relax and recover, but to be completely honest I really don't want to have time off because i'll only be at home in bed bored and I don't want to miss time in College. If I fall behind on work now then there is no chance of me catching up and I can't let that happen.
Anyways, I guess I just wanted to ask if anyone has any tips on how to stay relaxed and take my mind off the pain. It's becoming so unbearable that the only form of pain relief I have to take is my tablets but I can only take them 4 hours apart and I'm scared i'm going to end up ODing. This is worrying me because I have had problems with ODing in the past but it wasn't with medication as strong as this. (I hope this doesn't count as tip sharing, if it does i'm sorry).
Replies gratefully appreciated, thanks.
