Laura, do you know if they currently attend any mother and toddler groups? If not maybe join netmums and see if you can find any that are close, it might help to make friendships and things while you're down there..xx

Fran my health visitor hasn't really given me much advice on it as I haven't seen her since Cathryn was 18months,I rang her because I was worried and they asked about loads of other things inc her speech.

I have tried every hour with the potty but she is getting worse rather than better, she won't use it at my mums or at the toddler group.I am really at my wits end.I have borrowed a Gina Ford book from a friend thats meant to train them in a week so will let you know how that goes...

She's never bothered with dummies or toy attachments...

and R&B course your welcome here xx

shivoni, i honestly don't know how you deal with that. i can tell you my parents wanted nothing to do with me or this baby and now mum's knitting him stuff and testing out pushchairs! I'd probably say that to seek help with dealing with the feelings coming from your situation that counselling really might help.

mand, delta's baby is so cute! i like the first one "i'm watching you!"

coffee addict (is it linda?) your grandson looks a doll. i'm sure he'd be grabbing more stuff if he had more hands... and still look angelic!

claire and manda - how's potty training going for you guys? has the book helped any claire?

i had my 25week midwife appointment today and all is going well. he's literally getting on my nerve so i have a pain in my ass! lol! and enjoys my bladder as his play thing. oooh, and my midwife (who is 29w) is having a little boy too! heehee :D

I have given up on the book..bad mummy I know but she went on the toilet today, and told me three times she needed to go and got her nappy at various times off the day.Grandmas are just better :P

Manda maybe try moving Chloe onto a toilet with a training seat?

For some unknown reason,Cathryn has decided that she would put her toy cat on the potty this morning at grandmas house, and went through the pretence of it having a wee/cleaning it up/washing paws ect.
I asked her if she needed the potty "No No potty mummy"
My mum "When your mummy was little, she used the toliet when she was too big for nappies would you like to go on the toilet"
Cathryn-"yes mam-ma,me biiiiiiig girl now.nappy babys"

She sat on toilet and we pretended that cat was weeing,so cathryn promptly followed!! and has tried all day..RESULT!!

hehe

Fran-I'm afraid the bladder kicking only gets worse...but it's all worth it when you meet him xx

haha, yeah, when he first did it i was kind of excited. haha. thankfully he's not lying on it, he's just kicking it at the moment. he likes to lie on my nerve :(

well done to your little one! grandmas are brilliant... i think it's just because they've experienced it all already and have had a nice break so can help without wanting to scream the place down. my mum is currently playing with so many prams it is not even funny. every week its a new favourite. she is now raving about one from mamas and papas. it's like "that's nice mum but i can't afford Ł850 for the pram." "i'm not really planning on using it in fields mum." bless her, i'm just so happy that she's involved now she can suggest and butt in all she wants. but don't remind me i said that when i'm sleep deprived and she's driving me mad. all i can say is knitted trousers....

we've tried the toilet seat thing too, but we've gone back to basics. the book recommends a preparation phase where she sits on the potty with no emphasis on doing anything - still in nappies, sometimes with a nappy on unless she asks to take it off. well we did that all of yesterday, taking her to the toilet with me, telling her what i was doing and rewarding her if she copied. well this morning i took her downstairs with me and went straight there. she took off her nappy and sat on pott and did a wee! so she got zillions of stars on her chart, 1 for taking off her nappy, 1 for sitting on the potty, 1 for doing a wee, one for wiping herself and 1 for washing hands.

we're not actively making her go yet, but its a start.

Definitely invest in a sling! Faith wouldn't go in her pram, she always wanted to be carried so I had to get a sling as she was so unsettled. Best thing I ever did. Although, now she's too heavy for it (17lb 10oz) cause she kills my back when she's in it! Might need to see about getting one that has a bit more support for me, despite the one I've got having the back support.

Snow this past few weeks has been horrible for me. Faith and I had been stuck in the house ofr the past week because we literaly couldn't push the pram through the snow. We finally got out yesterday to my mum's for a while and it was great! Hopefully I'll make it into uni tomorrow!

Definitely invest in a good sling, it'll save your back - I still carry my 38lber front and back and I'm 28 weeks pregnant!

I had a pram as well as a sling,I found Cathryn didn't like the slings as much once she'd stopped breastfeeding but much as It be handy to have one still...I think carrying a three yr old would be murder..hehe

Potty update:No nappies at all today just knickers, two wees on floor but attempts to use potty before. She's actaully now started taking her knickers down before,by herself rather than weeing through them... :)
HUGE PRAISE and two wees in the potty finally feel i'm getting somewhere although this may be shattered when we have to leave the house tomorrow... She told me "no want it nappies mummy me three....no nappy at my happy birthday potty"

Any tips for taking a training child out without a nappy other than potty and lots of clothes.I'm not putting her back in nappies in the day at all now...

Get a travel potty. They're like a tenner, but mine came in so so handy with my little one.

Other wise i'd suggest taking her before you leave the house.
Finding out where the toilets are when you get there and taking her.
And ask her/take her back to the toilet every hour
She sounds as though she's doing well now tho, so well done =]

hey guys, i'd compleltey reccomend the moby wrap - similar to the wrap kelly interested me in (ellaroo), but as its stretchy material, you put it on then place baby in it and the stretch allows you to do that, other more rigid fabrics you have to wrap your baby into place.

i sitll wrap chloe occasionally if i'm busy and she's cuddly or ill - otherwise she's not interested. ella gets wrapped frequently if we're not taking a buggy with us coz she can't walk far yet.
