Microsoft office 2010 installation help

I have the 2007 trial edition on my laptop. Firstly I tried uninstalling this but I got an error message saying the registry key could not be validated.

I tried installing office 2010 both upgrading and then doing the customized version without upgrading from 2007 and keep getting the same message.

It is a legit version just bought from amazon with a proper product key.

Help?

Now when I try to uninstall office 2007 it says there is no product to uninstall.

When I open word it doesnt even come up with the option to enter in a product key.

I assume you are logged on as an admin?

Also if you're messing around with the registry, be extremely careful, you don't want to break anything else more than it is!

Done the ccleaner.

Bit confused as to the next bit. Do you mean when the installation CD is in my laptop I right click and run as admin?
