self harm at work?!?!

okay so i had a job interview today for a 70's bar in nottingham and i got the job!!! =] i am thrilled but one thing thats really worrying me is my self harm.. not the job or nething,, even tho its completely different to anything ive ever done before! its the scars and fresh wounds that mark my arms..

the past 2 weeks have been really difficult for me; moving back to nottingham,, change in routine,, rent and money worries,, discharge from mental health services,, gettin a job etc etc as well as the anniversary of two friends deaths =[.. obviously as i always do this time of year i self sooth with a blade or alcohol or pills,, what ever and this year its been EVERYTHING! burns,, hair pulling anything to get a release...

well the main problem is that not enough time has passed for me to say "oh i did this ages ago its just healing really slowly".. and i dont know if i can get away with wearing long sleeves in this job and they dont know that i self harm,, let alone that i did it less than a week ago,, you know?? anyway i dont know exactly what im after in this blog apart from advice i guess... what would you do in my situation?? tell my new boss,, wear long sleeves till things have healed and hope they dont mind,, not take the job till my metal health has improved?!?! i really dont know and i need some ideas guys... itwould be much appreciated...

It might be a good idea to be honest with your manager because they can then ensure that you are supported and get away with wearing long sleeves. Otherwise, a 3/4 length shirt or something, with bracelets or bands around your wrists can help cover scars/cuts/whatever.

Wear long sleeves. If you have a uniform wear a thin cardigan over it, or a long sleeve top under it.

Or depending how much of your arm is affected, I sometimes wear a bandage and say I burnt myself on the oven accidentally.

i think im going to wear a long sleeved top and if they say nething about it then i will be honest with them and tell them that i self harm and when i feel comfortable (really when things have healed) i will wear a short sleeved top... i hope they will accept that,, if not who knows.. thanks for your advice guys i really appreciate it <3 x
