Your problems seem more important, but If you have any advice I could use it.

Well I kinda have two things i need advice for...the first kinda ties into the next. I posted some of it on something else but I thought it was pointless, but now i kinda think whats the harm in asking for help?

so anways the first is my mom suffers from many mental illnesses and her depression is really comming down on her right now because her mother and my favorite grandparent isnt doing so well.we are all really worried beause my other grandma died a few years ago. anyway I was kinda wondering if there was anything to do to lift her spirits?
me and her arent the closest and shes admitted my sister was her favorite, but my sister is moving out soon and has a lot to deal with it so im left with the feeling I have to try and make things better, but im 16, how much can i do?

Also, depression and bipolar and alot of other mentall illnesses run in my family and im almost certain i have depression, And im an insomniac it took me literally 9 hours to fall asleep lastnight/this morning. and I was talking to my dad about how my cousin thinks i should be medicated, and as much as i dont want to be i feel as though nothing else would help, ive been to a councler and a phsycologist and nothing helped. but going to a phsyciatrist would be like the same so thats another concern i have. so I'm wondering if phsyciatrists are different from counclers and stuff? and i cant talk to my mom about it right now cuz shes so worried so im asking you all. but after all that my dad kinda called me crazy and asked why i couldnt help mself...can i? is there something out there that will make me no longer cut, no longer go so numb all i want is physical pain, to just want to foccus on cutting instead of everything else?even if ive done it since i was 10?

You should definitely try and keep seeing a counseller or therapist. Usually they can help you figure out if it'd be a good idea to go see a psychiatrist and get on some type of medication or not.
About your mom, maybe just do little nice things for her like making her bed in the morning or watching funny movies with her? At least it could maybe distract her or something, but sometimes people just need to work through things. You shouldn't expect to be able to make everything better for her so that she won't have to worry because that would be impossible. Other than just trying to be in a good mood around her and ignore some of the little annoying mom things without commenting on them (I so need to do that haha), you have to just let her get through some of this on her own. Also, you're pretty young, so it really isn't your job to worry over something that big, so you just have to learn to accept the things that you can't change and know that you can't change how she feels, other than letting her know you'll be there for her. Easier said than done, I know, but it's true haha
Good luck and don't forget to take care of yourself too =)

I had a therapist like that...blehhhhh haha
sometimes you have to sort of like "shop around" for one that suits you...maybe get a female counseller? I've never had a guy one, but maybe they just blame everything on pms? haha
keep lookin for a good one =)

Yeah except you can also think hmm, they kind of HAVE to do a good job, or I'll just take my money and leave haha. =D
and when you find a good one, you know it because you don't feel like that. I've had some nutty therapists, but also some good ones haha

Psychiatrists diagnose and prescribe meds and stuff, could be helpful for you. The therapists must have gone into the proffession for a reason, I tihn we have to beleive that they're not doing it for the money, and they genuinely do want to helpx

It's real sweet you want to help your Mum feel a little better, prehaps you could ask her what she would like to do? Prehaps go out somewhere (if possible?) even just for a walk and get some fresh air.

If you think you're suffering from depression, it's a good idea to get help as early as possible. Yes, a psych is different from a counsellor. Pysch's can give you medication if needed, but counsellors can't - as they are only there for you to talk to/get things off your chest.

Sometimes parents don't understand, so prehaps have another word with your Dad about how you're feeling?

Hope you're okay and I'm here if you want to PM me. x
