Sometimes Zed it's better to scrap the whole thing and start from scratch. Instead of trying to build on the poor material, build entirely new material.

It's an American show about an American high school football team in a town in Texas where the sport is like really mixed in deep with the towns religion and stuff. Wanted to watch it for a while so thought I'd give it a go the other night.

I'm trying to go with a different angel n it but there are still bits and pieces from the first draft that I want to keep and meddle about with.

The Asian Perspective in a wonderful tail. However if you think it needs changing that's your right as creator.
if you think you can make the changes without a full rewrite then more power to you. Sometimes it's harder but more rewarding to do so.
The way I judge if a work needs a re-write or not is to read it. Since i write for myself I am the one I need to entertain. If I'm not happy with only the odd sentence here and there i make those minor changes. but if too much of the novel has problems then I scrap the project and start over. In those instances keeping the old work around is more of a hindrance because you find yourself looking back on it too much and the new work just doesn't grow enough.
The three rules of being an author: Write, read, rewrite.
