Why!?

So, my boyfriend's mother hates me. I mean she really doesn't like me. For instance, when me and my boyfriend almost broke up she seemed "deeply concerned," but when she found out we worked it out she looked liked someone had sucker-punched her and informed her that her mother had fallen in a pit of lava.

Darius thought this was disturbing and funny, but I just felt tired. I know I'm not the nicest, prettiest, etc., but **** c'mon! I've never done anything to this woman and she hasn't liked me from the start of me and Darius's relationship. In fact, she doesn't even deem us "in a relationship!"

Someone told me to talk to her about, but I've had a chance to be around her for a while, and this woman is a great actress. She can/will smile in your face, sympathize, bat her eyes, and then stab you in the back like a mother****er. For example, she's asked about me, my family, and school; she then proceeded to tell Darius that because I suffer from a mental illness and self-injure (on occasion), I am likely to come unhinged and try to kill myself in front of him--her "friend" threatened to do it, so I will too!

I don't even want to think about what she'll tell him next. She has these ****ed up conversations with Darius where she'll act all concerned, then start telling how crazy and ****ed up I am! WTF man, Jesus-****ing-Christ!

it's unfortunate, but you don't have any control over what anyone says or does. you only have control of your own actions. you could try talking to her, but i doubt that it will help. it may just give her more fuel to burn you with. the best advice i have is to talk to darius and see if he won't tell his mother that he does not want to hear negative things about you. besides that all you can do is be polite and stay out of her way as much as possible. as much as we would like to change others, we can only change ourselves.
