Triggering (SI) - Triggered by animal scratches
So I was playing with my cat, and then she scratched me. I have a very long cut on my arm by my wrist and there are alot of things wrong with that. First off, It looks like a self-injury cut, so I am getting some concerned looks from that and secondly, it is VERY triggering. I look at it and i just want to add to it. Even when I'm not triggered, it will trigger me just by seeing it. Does anyone else have that problem or do they look at scratches from their animals and think "Oh it's just a scratch from the cat or dog. It's cool. Whatever." or do yall get triggered by them too?

I get really triggered by cat scratches.
I have a cat myself, and the only reason I used to play with him is because he would tear up my hands and arms, so then I could blame the cat because technically I didn't do it.
I work at a vets as well, so I have to be careful now because I'm trying to remain SI free but if a cat scratches or bites me then I might get set off... And I really don't want to do that because I still have my tools.

I used to do the same thing! It wasn't like self-injuring but it was kind of a one off. I also still have my tools. I know exactly where they are so I also have to be extremely careful but It's really hard not to give in to my urges right now...

I know what you mean.
Same, I know exactly where my tools are so I have to be careful too... Even when my Mum found out I was SI'ing she didn't make me get rid of what I used... And I don't have the guts to get rid of them by myself.
I know you can resist the urges, you can do this.
PM me if you need to and take care.

I know the feeling.
Animal scratches trigger the hell out of me too. -.-
It's annoying. But maybe just try covering it up with bracelets?

I'm the same, expect I've never been scratch - so in the sense that other accidental injuries I do get triggered, yes. x

They trigger me so much! Any accidental cut in the right place does. I scratched my upper arm on something, I forget now, and even though it was just a little scratch this whole week it's been triggering me every time I see it. I've been watching it heal, and it reminds me of when I used to cut a lot and have cuts to watch.
