I don't really mind moths as long as they're not getting in my face. I would just leave it. Or blow on it to make sure it's not dead. If it is you won't win the staring contest.
Butterflies I don't mind. but moths are the winged insectoid spawn of satan.
Butterflies fly and glide. moths flutter and flap insanely like they don't know how to fly and it's taking all their effort to stay up.
What's their agenda? they don't come out during the day. all that light and nothing but at night you put on a little lamp and a bloody great big moth appears around it. they're plotting something. you can see it. they're cunning, evil, little things.

When I was, like, 7 years old, after watching Lady and the Tramp, I had a dream that a mahoosive moth with the face of a Siamese cat tried to kill me. I am now scared of moths/butterflies and siamese cats XD
