Triggering (SI/OD) - GP advice
I rarely post one here, I mainly read other peoples advice and hope I'll somehow relate. I often don't like talking about or even admitting that I SI.
But this time, I feel like I need some advice of my own.
One of my close friends has found out about my SI and despite the fact i've lied to her and said I'm fine , I think she knows I'm not.
It's been a problem for the last three years, and she is the first person to ever accidently find out.
I think it has become so routine to me that I couldn't understand why she was so worried about it all.
But then the last week has become so intense that I find myself thinking about suicide alot, which terrifies me.
I've realised I probably do need help.
She's threatened to contact my parents unless I go see my GP with her.
I don't want to lose her and I hate to see her worry about me :/
But the thing is, I don't think I could do it. Where would I even begin to explain everything?

Is there anyone besides a gp that you could maybe talk to,Your friend sounds like she really cares about you and just wants to help.Even if you could write down how your feeling and give it to the gp. The hardest thing is admitting you need help and you've done that,I know it seems scary to go to your gp but they will try and help you.

thanks for your advice : )
I don't think there is anyone else I could talk to about it , which makes it difficult because I can sometimes find my GP quite a cold person.
I think maybe trying to explain things to my friend could help, then once i've done that saying everything to a stranger wouldnt be so bad.

you could always ask for a different gp if that is possible,or if you feel that you really can't talk to your gp ask your friend to tell your gp whats been going on. I have done this before and it helped loads having someone to speak to for me.

I'd have never thought of that, it's a really good idea.
I know she'd do it for me, it just means i'd have to speak about something i've kept secret for so long. I'm gonna ask her when I see her later, I'll let you know how it goes. : )

Just tell your self that in order for you to get help and get better you've got to let people in and that means by talking to someone so all i can say is just take a deep breath and things will be ok,good luck, feel free to pm any time

Thanks so much for your advice , I feel alot less stressed about it all now.
I'm just gonna go for it, it's still daunting but I reckon if I don't do it now I never will
