Windows or Apple

Which do you use and which would you prefer.

I use a windows laptop, but I have to say that I am being converted to Mac. when I finally replace this laptop I think I'll buy a Mac.

Mac's have better memory capacity, better speed, less weight, over twice the battery life (seriously they last like 7 hours!), stronger casing, lighter. and MOST importantly they have fewer bugs, never crash and don't freeze up on you for no reason like windows PC's.

Apple came first. the only reason Windows became an industry standard is because they flooded the market with cheap machines. I know you can pick up a windows laptop for a few hundred pounds, whereas a basic apple will set you back six hundred or so.
Apple costs more; but the quality you get is undeniable.
Quality costs.

Windows but only because I've never used a mac. I wouldn't be against buying one if I could afford it and I agree that you have to pay more for better quality.

One reason Windows became so popular is because they flouted internet browser monopoly laws and incorporated Explorer into the actual OS, whereas before you needed to get a separate browser. Or something.

Anyway, I use a Mac. To be frank, they are expensive for what they are. You can get a much higher spec 'normal' computer for the same price. They are also crap if you want to game on them. I like how intuitive my Mac is though. Windows just seems too clunky to me now.

Windows but only because I can't afford a Mac right now. When I can afford it, I would like a MacBook :D just for their sheer awesomeness. Me and my boyfriend both want one, we spent about half an hour in the apple shop once :D

maybe ten years ago there were compatibility issues. but since the year 2000 companies have recognised the growing Mac market and now almost all games are compatible with Mac's.

World of Warcraft is compatible, that's all I need.

Windows (and my laptop lasts 7 hours on battery).
Cheaper to buy, cheaper and easier to repair and upgrade, more software availble. Lot more open source stuff so you can customise, lot more programming stuff.

Mac are good for graphics and art types and thats about it really. I mean look at it, all most all the main applications on mac, are copied from windows. And windows took the market becuse it was the first platform to offer a graphical user interface meaning no more long code to learn.

And as the windows adverts say, pretty much anyone can pick up a windows computer and work the basics if not more than the basics. Mac takes a whle to figure out.
Mac are for the vain imho lol, windows for useability.

Apple Macintosh, of course.

Our family got fed up with Windows a few years ago and invested in 2 iMac's (one for my mum and dad, one for my brother). I got myself a MacBook. Ever since then we've kept getting Apple stuff, including the OS's (we have 10.6 Snow Leopard now). It's much simpler to use, good for beginners (no complicated installations, and all you have to do is click on taskbar once and it opens the application), even though it has more complicated video-editing software (but you don't have to use it, and it costs extra).

I love my MacBook Air because:
- Longer battery life (lasts up to 10 hours)
- I've had it for a year, hasn't frozen up once
- No viruses
- Memory (4GB)
- Hard-drive of 500gb (I paid extra but it's worth it)
- Good specs for gaming, doesn't run games slow or make them crash (WOW and Sims 3 haha)
- FINAL CUT STUDIO 4 and Soundtrack
- Adobe Photoshop CS4 runs better on a Macintosh, and so does iTunes. In fact most applications made for both of the OS's run better on a Mac.

If you are looking at getting a computer, then get a Mac. More expensive but it doesn't break after a few months and you don't have to spend hundreds on repairs!!

Bitter_Angel, actually Windows stole from Macintosh. Mac is something like 10 years ahead, in terms of technology!

EDIT:
All you Windows people don't know what you're missing!!! I got fed up of stupid freezing and crashing and sending my stupid laptop off for repairs! I've been using a Mac for 5 years now, had NO freezing, hard drive hasn't crashed, and it's just awesome! Aren't you lot fed up of it by now??

There are viruses that attack Macs. They are just a lot rarer than those which attack Windows, obviously because there are more Windows computers in the world so it makes sense to attack them.

Linux is good, but it's not really for those who aren't comfortable around computers and just want something pretty basic.

True 1 batch of apple computers had a problem with some faulty batteries. But let's not overlook all the problems windows seem to have. Including crashing, freezing for no reason, endless bugs, patches that fix said bugs and only cause others, difficult to run features, and Windows Vista claiming to be the successor to XP.

Mac and PC hardware is identical for the most part. There are more underbuilt PC's of course if price is an an issue. The Mac OS is tight but there are less conflicts because there is less you can do with it. My first computer was a Mac and if all I did was surf web, email and use some basic photo, video apps etc then Macs would be my primary platform. Since I assemble my own computers, game and use a lot of apps Windows has to be my main platform. I like Mac laptops more than PC laptops. I cant find a good reason to buy a Mac desktop though - and I like desktops much more than laptops

Lol at the picture!

I have never had an overheating/explosion issue with my laptop, and it's on practically all the time. My battery is still pretty good too after a good three or so year's use. But yes, I would be the first to say that they are overpriced.

My Windows computer was a home-built one and was pretty darn good. I never had any of the usual Windows problems with it. Maybe I'm just lucky when it comes to this sort of thing.

Battery life is longer maybe, until it explodes on you or melts, which has happened atleast once each to the people i know with macs. some of the multiple times.
When i used a mac, and it was a good 27" imac in a recording studio it froze on me 3 times within 3 hours and because it's a mac there was no way i could do to fix it other than on and off. with a pc i could have fixed it instantly.
there are virus's for a mac, and thinking that you are immune to them makes it so much easier for them to effect you, however there arnt many made for mac as it's only for like 3% of the population and why try to infect 3% when you can go for 90%.
You can easily get 4gb of ram on any laptop nowadays. Nothing to do with Apple
500gb harddrive also can be on any laptop. But those two items upgrading on your mac when you bought it no doubt cost more than it would on a laptop other than apple.
good specs for gaming, gaming laptops firstly are terrible and shouldnt be used. over heating issues and many other. Also, OSX has very very few games so why get high specs, sims 3 and WoW are so low on graphics.
Itunes is a terrible program anyway and shouldnt be used. yes it's better on mac as it's made by mac. But it is horribly bloated and there are many better alternatives.
Mac hardware is actually not that good. It is overpriced and is not the best around. Macs are well known for having many overheating issues and errors with batteries including exploding ones which have hospitalised people. If something breaks on your mac you have to send it all in to be repaired when if anything breaks on my pc i can easily replace it and fix it a lot faster. And if you're out of warrenty well pah, a big bill for you.
It is a lot harder to upgrade macs than pcs and macs plan for you is to buy a new one all the time, which is very very expensive.
More anti mac things to come :D

:O What other programs?!? I have Itunes and I hate the stupid thing, it's always freezing on me! The other day it took hours to update itself!

Anywho, I use windows :)

Yeah I have windows vista, and Itunes runs so effing slowly on it.
I got a new ipod & it said I had to update itunes in order for it to work, but then it ended up uninstalling the whole program & took hours to fix itself.

Well, if we're going with the bike analogy then Windows is more likely to get you killed. Wheras Mac is a gentle and calm runner that gets the job done. It may not be big, loud and flashy but you're (and your computer) alive at the end of the journey.

PC all the way. Never used a MAC and never really had a desire to. If my PC breaks down and I can't fix it myself, I have my dad or brother who can fix it/get the parts it needs pretty easily.

This.
