You don't have to go back on it though, ultimately this is your decision. Your CPN should listen to YOU, let her know what sort of support you feel is right for you.

I just came off Effexor (stopped working, but I still got the side effects...so much fun). It sucks that you had to do it cold turkey (that's what it sounds like), that is possibly the worst way to get off any drug, especially Effexor.

If you're still having some side effects, try Prozac, or the generic form of it. It helps. Also, like other people said, if you don't want to be on it, don't take it. Just make sure your doctor (CPN? I'm over in the states, not sure about the terminology) knows that you're not taking it.

I'm going to start on Lexapro soon (it's almost scary how much of an asshole I am when I'm not on drugs), talk to your doctor about different medications. crazymeds.org is one of the best sites for meds like these.

Good luck.

As long as you have the right sort of support, I know that you can do this. How much Serequel are you taking at the moment?

just wanted to send ya some hugs. I completly agree about effexor being banned. Its the most evil thing i have ever taken. Although apparently it is one of the best drugs around for the people it works with.

Anyway, hope ur feeling better

Take Care

withdrawal

I've been through med withdrawal, too, from the puking to the shakes. A lot of the time I had no idea what was going on around me. I know it SUCKS. A LOT. But mine usually passed in a couple of days. After about a week, it will be totally out of your system. I'd seriously suggest consulting your doctor about going off it cold turkey, though. If things get really crazy, maybe go to the emergency room, but usually just having someone there with you to keep you from spazzing works. Sorry this isn't more helpful.

I'll keep your memory vague, so you won't feel bad about me...I'll say the things that you said sometimes so it reminds me.

I'm gradually coming off efexor XL at the mo. Not fun :( But, at least you are off it now hun :) YAY!! I'm half way through my withdrawl, and it's still trying to kill me. I'm same as you - just don't wanna be on anything. Good luck with it

Love, Rachy xxxx

Well done. I hate the fact most mental health care workers don't really care for the non med approach but just hand out rx's.
