Any sort of psychiatric drug is not great with alcohol. It can intensify the effects of the drug. Generally speaking, if you are choosing to drink it should be in very light/moderate quantities, & only after you've been on Prozac long enough to know how it affects your body. You need to be very cautious. Personally, I wouldn't advise it though.

And after you have discussed it with your doctor. Physical affects aside, alcohol can have numerous psychological affects, and it's not a good idea to drink when you already have psychological problems.

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

ok, if you drink profusely with prozac, it's not a good idea; but if it was a one time event, you'll be ok. Drinking with anti-depressants are not wise, because alcohol is a depressant and only makes things worse.

It's best to not drink, (al though this makes me a hypocrite) because it can counteract your effects, and if you drink too much with it, it will cause many problems.

^^^ Drinking just as a one time event may not be, we can't say as Aidey has said, the alcohol does affect both the prozac and the reasons you're on it and also, depending on your own body and if you're on any other meds or have any other medical conditions it could be pretty dangerous so it's best if you don't at all for the moment.

I'd agree with Aidey, speak to your doctor first and then they can hopefully put into place ways for you to drink that would be fine. Everyone reacts to drugs differently and so we can't give a blanket answer; it's why everyone has different side effects.

For me alcohol + prozac = horrible stomach ache. So I personally wouldn't advise it, but it is a case of try a little and see how it goes, after you have spoken to your doc about it.

I've always drunk on my meds. I take effexor and geodon and I've never had trouble drinking. But then again I don't drink much at all (no more than 2 or 3 drinks). It just depends on how your body handles it, start out with just one drink and see how that affects you.

^^^^ As said above, before ANYONE drinks alcohol with any meds that they're not supposed to then they should speak to a doctor first regarding it as they can cause a lot of problems, even just one drink to some people and so it's only really the job of a doctor to say yes/ no/ come up with a plan to safely drink because other things could go wrong.

Ok I will have to talk to my doctor about it. I have drank a fair amount of times with it and always get drunk the fastest out of everyone with the least amount of drinks for some reason and I wonder if it's partly because of the mixing. Hopefully there aren't any longterm effects.
