ESA and DLA

well i just got a letter from DLA saying i'm entitled to the lower rate mobility componement-£18.35 and highest rate of care componement - £70.35

but i'm already in reciept of ESA which is about £80 a week

will ESA stop or will i have it lowered?

i'm over the moon as i always find myself struggling for money and am constantly in my overdraft, and i have a baby on the way!

also, will i get DLA when i get income support and the other benefits i'll be entitled to when i have my baby?

sorry if this is worded confusingly!
any reply much appreciated, thanks!!

Im not sure what ESA is but from what i am aware DLA is always paid on top of other benefits. I know I get it on top of my income support.

DLA gets paid monthly too rather than weekly but again, I don't know about ESA except the DLA won't affect it as that's a separate entity. Whether it will go down when you get your income support or your income support will be lower when you've got your ESA, I haven't got a clue

nope.

You can get more ESA, called a disability premium, about 13 quid a week. x

I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.

It wont go down i tell you that much. And the DLA wont go down either as its set rates for everyone in each bracket (Eg all the highers will get the same amount)

I get both DLA and ESA...and I told ESA I claim DLA, and they said it doesnt matter, I also told DLA I aclim ESA, and they said it doesnt matter either, your still entitiled to the money.

So to your answer you can receive both benefits :)

It is also worth looking at the other benefits that you can get on DLA.
