i do totally agree

but personally i dont always think the problem is with the members ok yes some members arent always so friendly but its also because we cant see how people are meaning to say things. and because its on a computer screen its harder to work it out.

and also this is no ones fault but because like 90% of the people on here have mental health problems if we're feeling down we are more sensative whereas if we are feeling ok some things dont bother us.

personally i think the only thing really that can be done is that if someone finds it offensive or bully just to report it because then its not your call and then at least you can feel like youve done something.

i have to say i do find some people on here slightly offensive but if iwant to report it i always wait to see how peoples responses are because then i can tell if its just me being sensitive.

Great post. I've never seen anything like what you're talking about (not that I spend much time in RnV in the first place) but the idea that people could stoop so low, especially HERE, is sickening. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

It is lame, but it happens. Online, offline, it happens. I've been bullied both on and offline, and continue to be. I have already admitted that I have done so myself, mostly because it's happened to me, so I use my threads due to feeling upset/angry/feeling attacked, which is typically what they're used for. For then the person who is being attacked or spoken about in a bad way, they then use their own venting thread to let it out. Result; it then happens back and forth, hence why it may have been occurring so much and noticed a lot.

I'm not sure about the others who do this, but as I said, I'm now going to ignore it on here and do my venting elsewhere. All it does is add fuel to the fire.

Couldnt agree more. I have slated people before but i never mention any names. I would never slate anyone on here. a) i have no reason to and b) its just not appropriate. I believe i have slated family members before (iv never mentioned any names) but they are hardly likely to find out plus i think its different for family.

Because most RYLers don't have family members on the site and rants written on paper might be more likely to be discovered? Also everyone's family annoys them at some point just because how complex family dynamics are, so being able to just let it out and have a bit of a grumble and moan about them can prevent you flying off the handle at them in real life which in lots of cases could make things worse.

I also wholeheartedly agree with this thread. I actually find it pretty sad that members come on here to feel safe and then are subjected to abuse.

We do try and moderate this as much as possible but obviously there are times when things slip through the net.

Can i also just add: Sometimes we remove things from R/V threads because we believe it to be flaming people on here. Some people dispute this which is fair enough but we will always err on the side of caution. Personally i'd rather remove something that ended up not being about anyone on here than leaving something that does flame a member.

Wow i am so sorry you've been through such a horrible time.

I am not sure if people do that to me to be honest, cuz nobody *knows* me.

Very far, ocean away from anybody & i don't want to hurt anybody so why would anybody hurt me?

Not sure if you get my point,

But what people do is mean, and should stop.

i've been ranted about in peoples rant threads.
i know, i still have the links because i was going to go about the mods about it.

& then i thought, if what i have said/done has riled them as much as to make a rant thread about me, then good for them.
it amuses me.

So alternatively, ranting about someone could prevent them from flying off the handle on a public thread or in a PM?

Not everyone is going to get on, and when they don't, it can cause them to vent/rant about it rather than causing a tiff in threads/PM's.

I agree with this 150% and think it was really good of you to make a thread about it. I think it will help to bring it to more peoples attention, also I think, maybe, it will help the people making the original threads will realise the damage they cause.

Ok, I'm trying desperately not to make this personal.

If you want to delete it or feel uncomfortable please let me know.

Pup, you and I had a really bad night the other night and alot of that was because of my attitude and how I was feeling and for some sick reason I read your r&v and wondered whether I had driven you to that.

It helped me realise that if I was considering being responsible for such terrible feelings that I needed to amned my behaviour and be more reasonable so sometimes, controversially, it can help ranting about other people. It might not have been about me but flippin well gave me the kick up the arse I needed.

Please don't flame me in response as I will take this down if this offends anyone (especially Pup) unintentionally.
