What an awesome form of expression although I have to admit I see demons in some of this work. Then again I think there are demons in the torment of depression, etc.

hugs you back,

Im not doin alright at the moment , i understand that RYL is a big place and everyone does their best , yet i posted a thread in Vets corner over 2 weeks ago talking about my psych support being taken away from me and as yet just on person has replied and they arnt a vet . Im begining to feel invisible right now , i know i myself havent been around vets or ryl as much as i wanted too . Im struggling with not having my psych , mental health support available .

Im waiting for my psych to get back to me , hopefully to have a meeting with him to see if he can get me more support. If he doesnt im gona go to my Dr if they cant i will complain, if that doesnt work :( i may well give up.

I find you're work incredible Dave. How logn does each peace take? do you find it helps, or is it emotionally draining? I have alwasy struggled to visibly put down things that affect me in the form of art, and I think you do it very sucsessfully. I think it makes these meotions easier to deal with, seeing them on paper (or, a computer screen :P)

Thank you for your comments i appreciate them ,

"How long does each piece take ?

It varies from time to time and is dependant on my emotional state and depression , they can take from half an hour up to 3 hours or even longer . Once i begin to express myself i often carry on until i finish it or need to take a breather and then come back to it . I cant just sit here and creat work instantly i let the work create itself . I often start with a background and work my way through that , many times i go completly in the opposite direction i may have a figure or an emotion only to suddenly go in a completly different direction . The subject matter is very disturbing and scary .

Do i find it helps me?

Yes it helps to a point, my artwork is a way for me to try and channel my Pain, trauma, abuse, domestic violence and depression into a solid form . It only works to a point releasing some of the pressure inside. I often get frustrated because i cant allways express the deep trauma or issues in a graphical form.


Is it draining to create?

At times yes its very draining to create my artwork the emotion begins to pour out of me and the emotions it creates in me is often overpowering . In one way me creating my artwork that you see on here and the artwork you dont see the triggering stuff is portrayed in a very frightening and graphical form is a way of releasing some of my pain and trauma as much as i can through art instead of allways self harming.
Again that only works to a point often i still need to self harm to release stuff. Often i want to create very dark graphic and triggering work. I cant show my very graphic triggering artwork here, but i have plenty and i have showed it to my art therapist . It often scares me alot when i see what is in my work.

I hear you purple_rain about struggling to express yourself visibly and express the things that effect you in a piece of art. Being here in RYl opens my mind to others and how they express themselves in many different ways as you know, some can do it with poetry, others by writing , and others in creating artwork. I gues its important to find the best way you can to express yourself and to keep on doing it. I often wish i couldnt express myself in my artwork and could do it verbally especially when my artwork gets very graphic and triggering .

It doesnt matter how detailed a piece of work is it can still express so much emotion and feeling to others. Non of us have to be expert artists or poets or story writers on here to express what we need to.

I agree that it does make it easier to a point to deal with our emotions when we can put it into artwork on paper as well as computer.

Wow these two pictures you have just done have really hit home for me, as who I am is a concept that I am somewhat struggling with at the moment. Your pictures are real its almost eerie. I hope they are helping dave, keep fighting, you can do this
