I've been a vegetarian all my life. My parents brought me up as a vegetarian and gave me the choice when I was old enough to understand, I stayed a veggie though =]

I'm veggie! No one in my fam is vegetarian, I turned it when I was eleven, I'm now fifteen. It'll be coming up five years of vegetarianism for me. For some reason, that makes me very happy. xx

I'm veggie! I also remember the last thread!
Well, technically I'm pescatarian, but only since about 2 months ago, before that I was totally vegetarian and have been since birth!

I'm vegiterian too. Have been for nearly 7 years now :O
I do have to say though, for those who said it's more healthy, that is only true if you look after yourself properly (which no doubt you guys do!) whereas me, beign the silly billy I am, became severly anemic because of being vegiterian. Then i discovered kidney beans and chick peas and now i'm only mildly anemic, lol.
Do you know what I hate thoguh? is when people make fun of you/wind you up abotu ti. I mean, beign asked if you want a cheesebuger/meatcontainingproduct may be funny the first time, or even the secodn and third, but the 75687350760989307487th time it really isnt. peopel also think it's their rigth to tell me i'm 'unnatural' that humans were designed to eat meat and im going againts nature. I even had one guy that said 'if i had 11 chickens, and told you to eat one or i'd kill the other ten, woudl you do it? :( Some people talk to you as if you're a freak for it, which isn't very nice I dont think.
i personally don't force my lifestyle chocie of beign vegiterian on anyone. I generally don't talk about it (for reasons posted above) unless people ask. Some of my friends even don't know. So i dont understand why other people feel they have to try and 'convert' me to eatign meat, explaining why I should, and why being vegiterian is wrong.
As fro the kids thing, I think I woudl struggle to be able to prepare and cook the meat myself, but i'd be happy to let my children have it from their freinds houses/if their dad makes it, and if they chose to be a meat-eater then thats fine, and if they chose to be vegiterian that would be fine too.
/mini rant :P

This is untrue anyway. Humans are natural herbivores, but we can digest meat because most of us are fed meat from a very, very young age. However, if a long-time vegetarian eats meat for the first time in years, or the first time in their entire life, then they'll feel sick. Likewise, a long-time meat eater suddenly adopted a vegetarian diet (as I did), he/she won't have cravings for meat. If humans were natural omnivores we'd have sharper teeth, so as to be able to chew tough meat (a function we've replaced with the steak-knife).
But I digress.
I've been vegetarian for almost a year now and I wouldn't change it. I was actually really shocked when I realised I didn't miss meat.
