May I suggest, trying to minimise the type of harm you are doing to yourself.

Otherwise I'm wary any ideas could be tipsharing, in some strange from, I don't know but it doesn't seem right to say "do x, y, and z and you can carry on cutting with less pain, yay!".

Do you want, PM me more information about the wound? (Such as where exactly it is, how much it's gaping, what it looks like, if its painful all the time/ what worsens it/ if it is hot, swollen, discharging pus or reddened as well as whether you've got any reduced movements in any of the joints lower down your leg/ areas of numbness or pins and needles and what the pain is like).

It is normal to wounds to be painful in the first few days after though it usually wouldn't affect walking too much and wouldn't be searing pain. Sometimes during walking it can be more painful due to the stretching of skin around the wound and this pulling on the wound. This may be what you're experiencing but cannot really say without more detail.

And don't worry, we won't go on about how you must want pain etc etc; we all know it's not like that and we all have self harmed (which is why we're here) and we don't want pain all the time!

Also, you can buy first aid stuff at any age. The age limit is usually just for things like pain relief gels or any tablets.

Just in case you don't know what first aid things it is good to have this may be worth a read from one of the First Aid FAQs;

It’s a good idea to keep a stock of things so you’ve always got what you need there when you cut. An example of what you’d need is as follows;
Non-Adherant (non-stick) Wound Dressing Pads Melolin
Adhesive Dressing
Tubi-grip bandage (UK) that are the right size to hold dressings in the area you cut or an ACE Wrap Bandage (USA)
Medical Tape (Micropore / Zinc-Oxide Tape)
Steri-strips/ Butterfly stitches/ Closure strips
Anti-bacterial cream
Sterile Gauze
Wound wash

Pharmacy’s/Drug Stores/ many supermarkets should sell everything listed here. If you don’t see it ask someone who works there.
