I'm getting a kitten soon. I'll be living on a main street through a village but if I use the backdoor, which I'm going to their is no access to the main road that way as there is a big enterance way which is all wooden and their is no gaps in it so it's just a yard area.
I'm wondering should I let the kitten out and if so when shall I let it out, I know I have to wait until after it has it's jabs and is over 12 years old.
It will have a litter tray inside and we'll probably keep it out of the living room when we are out but it'll have free roam of the kitchen and upstairs and access to food, water and litter tray.
I would just have it as an indoor cat! They don't suffer from not being outside. Best place to keep litter tray is in the bathroom or laundry, cause that way you don't get kitty poo smell in your living room :P Also, if you get one of the covered litter trays, it cuts down on sooo much mess! Just give it a few scratching posts and some toys and it'll be fine! Cats sleep over 18 hours a day! So I wouldn't worry too much abuot leaving it home alone :)

i wish to encourage the company of kittens :)
but how boring must it be to be kept inside the same place 24/7?
but yeah youll probs wana keep it in until it has its jabs, and after that to start just go outside and watch it, eventually it will get used to the area
but im not an expert, so continue to seek advice xD
and what am i supposed to do
when the best part of me was always you
I would let it out but monitor it! They can climb over a fence, but wait til it's older and then only take it out when you go out... Fresh air is good for everyone! :P
with both my kittens, we had their jabs done n stuff n then kept them in for a couple of weeks (like 2weeks or so) just cus we didnt want them to run off cus wed just had them injected lol
and then we let them into the garden. my 2nd kitten wasnt very keen at first so we used to take him out n sit with him.
though from the very beginning we shouted them in at night, just so they cant get hurt during the night and also so they dont bring anything in while wer asleep
eee i love kittens!!!
my mother in law tried to have an indoor cat but it escaped so much they ended up putting a catflap in for her. she also refused to use a litter tray.
they put up net curtains and the cat still escaped through open *tiny* windows, when anyone came to the door the cat would fly out, she hates being indoors until its cold then she comes in and sleeps in the iring cupboard on her cushions.

Kittens are fun! But they scratch a lootttt. Maybe keep it inside while it's young and then let it out when it gets older. They can jump the fences pretty well. :p
cats can get just about anywhere lol. the other day my cat climbed out of my bros window on the second floor, and started walking on the outside ledge bit, i was so worried, i was there with treats trying to bribe her in lol.
and my other cat went missing all day, and then in the evening my dad discovered hed climbed into a draw under the bed and someone had closed it without realising lol
ahhh kittycats, theyr so awesome
I get my kitten tommorow eeeee.
They need to be in until atleast 12 weeks old but then its ok.
Your cat MIGHT realise the main road is a no go.
But letting it out in the back sounds like a much better option.
Hopefully then it won't go near the main road and will just stay in the yard but like someone else said, cats can jump fences pretty well.
Life can be beautiful if you let it.
Step back, breathe and take it in
