Police find severed arm after leg discovered

LONDON (Reuters) - Police investigating the discovery of a man's severed leg beside a lay-by in Hertfordshire said on Monday they had found an arm in a country road 25 miles away.
It was highly likely both limbs came from the same body but this would not be confirmed until further tests had been conducted, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.
Walkers found the arm lying on a grass verge in Drovers Lane, Wheathampstead, 30 miles north of London, around midday on Sunday.
The leg, discovered in a green holdall by the A507 road near the village of Cottered a week earlier, is believed to come from an adult white or Asian man between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins (1.67m to 1.77m) in height.
The man appears to have had a skin condition that discoloured the pigmentation around the ankle, police said.
"This is a very unusual incident and we are working meticulously to establish who the body parts belong to and how they came to be in Cottered and Wheathampstead," said Detective Chief Inspector Mick Hanlon.
"We are conducting a number of enquiries including area searches and are continuing to check missing person records to make sure we leave no stone unturned."
