Hey guys.
I basically always have some kind of tool with me where ever i go and that is normally a knife or several of them, and i know lots of other people on here do the same too. Could you get in trouble with the police if you are found in possession of knife(s) even if it is only to harm yourself?

'Cause I'll always remember you the same.

If the police do a random search on you and you are carrying a knife then yes, there's going to be some form of consequence to it. I'm not 100% on the law / legality aspects of it, but I'm sure you can get prosectuted or recieve some form of caution if found in posession of a weapon (of which a knife is considered as).
As long as your not in school or anything I don't think you could get in trouble. People have pocket knives and stuff like that for protection, it's guns and things like that you'd get in trouble for. In school, yeah, you can get in trouble because you could try and attack another student (yeah I'm really going to go up and cut another person with a blade lol), so no chances are taken (I think this depends on the school though, that's just my experience, though).
I am not positive, this is just what I've seen/been told by other people.
Let's put a smile on that face
We are not alone
Find out when your cover's blown
There'll be somebody there to break your fall
We are not alone
'Cause when you cut down to the bone
We're really not so different after all
The "it's for protection" line won't work over here. Possession is usually taken as possesion, regardless of the intended use. You would definitely get it confiscated, if not the other things I said before.

It depends on how long the blade is. Here in NZ the law is that a pocket knife is one with a blade of less than 10cm. Anything more than that it's a weapon and you can get in trouble but I'm not sure what you'd be charged with specifically where you are. I almost got arrested once for this so it's not worth taking knifes anywhere. The police don't care about why your carrying it, the fact that you are is enough to get you into serious trouble.
Check out the laws in your country.

idk about where youre from but check out the laws. some knives are illegal just to have on you like a switchblade and so posession of it could get you in trouble as well as a knife of a certain size. smaller once like small pocket knives arent but if they're bigger than like an inch long or something youre saposed to keep them clippe don your belt or else you can get in trouble for a "concealed weapon" also if you are ever stopped by cops and they say "do you have anthign on you i should know about" definitely tell them you have the knife.
in middle school i carried a hunting knife on me i used to harm myself and i actually got kicked out of school and almost got sent to a detention center thing or whatever. luckily my grandfather used to work there so i got off easy.
deepends on the size were your at ..ect im in n.y usas and i carry a blade...

no in england we are not allowed to be found in possession of knives, what ever the size...ESPECIALLY if you use the line "its for protection" cos over here that would be classed as you are intending to use it which is premetitated....people have been done for much less, eg. even using house keys now can be classed as a weapon.
as someone said maybe it depends on the size but tbh the only reason you would prob get away with it is if you showed them your scars and say its only for me....but if it was found in school WHATEVER the reason you are likely to get in trouble.
dont think you are the type of person who is likely to get searched by the police but you never know....be careful l'il one :)
xx
this pic is so i can always remember jen who was my l'il sock monkey friend who has left ryl and i miss her!!!
Knives of any description can get you in trouble if caught with them. Especially if it is 'for protection' since it implies you are planning to use it and studies show that those who carry knives (even for protection) are more likely to get injured by them. Any weapon, or anything that could be used as on, can get you into trouble with the police.
They can stop and search anyone at anytime. I've been stopped by sniffer dogs and they looked through my bag. They didn't find anything, but they were stopping every other person.

i would suggest probally using something else that won't get you in trouble with the law if you have to have something with you, i know it's a huge comfort for me but i carry something really small cause i not jsut worried about police but others as well. check out the law in your area like the others have suggested, you don't need to be going and getting yourself in trouble
Freedom from addiction, freedom from pain. The suffering is worth the life I live now.
In the UK, as far as I am aware if you're under 18 you're not allowed to carry a knife/ blade. If you're over that it should be less that either 3 or 4" and it should be related to a specific job you're doing so like I used to carry one around with me all the time (I actually still do always have a TINY on with me) because I worked on a farm/ riding school and so I needed it for my job.
I live in the UK, and I've been told (well only by my father) that you're allowed in public to have anything up to 3 inches long for personal use (like a penknife), and other than that you need a special reason - like carrying kitchen knifes if you are a chef etc. I think this is right because he sometimes goes stalking (animals not people!), and for this he takes a fairly big knife with him, and he thought he should find out the law before he just went out with some dangerous looking knife.
I use my penknife to harm, and friends have found it in my handbag before and been like what the hell, but I've just said its for protection and it's something i always carry. Also I never take it anywhere your bag may be searched, like a nightclub, museam, obviously airport etc.
Hope this helps, take care. X
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell. I know, right now you can't tell. But stay a while and maybe then you'll see A different side of me Unwell - Matchbox 20

When they randomly stop + searched me and found a knife and razorblades they realised the knife was to harm myself, nobody else but they still had to caution me so i'd be careful hun .x
in the uk you can, iv been arrested before for having a penknife so yeh, but i dont think if u carry a razorblade with you, you cant well iv never been arrested for carrying a razorblade just for carrying a penknife
