Triggering (SI) - SI at work

On sunday one of my friends (not a close friend but an ok guy) from work was stood on reception with me and i looked down to see his arm pouring blood. he says he has no idea how it happened, he's a tech and said he probably caught it on the machines. fair point but due to the size and the amount of blood i would say it was unlikely he caught it by accident and had absolutely no idea he did it. but me being me just agreed with his story and helped him clean it up and bandage it etc. (im not currently a trained first aider it ran out a while back but i seem to be the person who patches everyone up after they've been stupid). it wasn't until i got it to stop bleeding that i could have a look.
The following content has been hidden - Reason : details of a cut
it wasnt too deep, deep enough to keep bleeding a lot tho but about 3 inches long and a completely neat straight line
it was too neat to have been caught on a screw or something in a machine, i have worked with guys who work with the same machines for a few years inc my fiance and yes they are dangerous and can do a lot of damage to people but not like that.
the problem is i followed my gut instinct (and the advice of another colleage who has also had experience of SI ) and went straight to management to dicuss my concerns. however i then thought i would hate it if someone had done the same to me. he is pissed of and on the defensive about managements reaction. he doesnt know it was me who said anything, he came to me to bitch about it. but im not sure where to go from here.

If I pretended I was blind
And struck it from my mind
Would it still be there?
What if I'd do anything
To make it seem all right
I finally got Lei'd in Vets....It was an enjoyable experience!

Hmmm

Difficult. If he dissociated and cut then theres a possibility it will happen again and itcould cause H&S issues and indeed have an effect on the other staff and colleagues too. Obviously not forgetting his own well-being.

I think i too would have had a ****-fit if i knew someone had mentioned something. Im pretty sure all of us would have.

However, giving this some thought i think that you have done the right thing. You acted in the best interests of everybody and you did what you thought was right at the time! It may be a shock to his system but it could also be the jolt he needs to get something sorted out.

What you did was difficult but i think you did the right thing.

Well done.

Big loves

Someone where I work did that to me once & I indeed had a '****-fit' as Matthew so elegantly put it.

I covered my ass & managed to stop it becoming an issue but I never forgave the person.

You probably did the right thing, but from this side of the fence I can totally see why he is pissed.

I know its a wonderful world.
