Another House addict here. (Well, isn't it obvious. *hides the word "House" written on her forehead*) SI appeared in three episodes. I used to know them, but I can check again if anyone is interested.
...:is interested:. is one of them the bulimic girl with the ipecac and the heart transplant?

Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,
Till she cry "Lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover,
I must have you!"

ok...so i have a prayer request...
i really really really struggle with denying my christianity...i mean i go to a christian school and everything but nobody there acts like it
and when ppl start to get the idea that i'm a christian and that i actually act like one i get ashamed and i hate it! so i'll do something "unchristian" to get them to change their minds about me...i just need to have the courage to be like "yep i'm a christian" but i don't...even on here at RYL...its pitiful!! and i know that verse thats like "if you deny me then i'll deny you before my father in heaven" (i don't know it word for word but somethin like that right?) and i don't want that to happen...
anyways...i would really appreciate any prayers =)
ive never posted here or anything..but i need prayer...if thats okay.
i applied to Mercy Ministries (you can search their site if you dont know them) and i call them on Friday to see if i can get into their program. please pray that i get in!! its my only option. otherwise im stuck with my SI and developing ED. ive tried places here. i cant afford to see a professional or anything...heck, i cant even afford a decent place! (i live in a motel with my dad). so please it would really help if you can pray that i get in. i have nowhere else to go...
Hun, PLEASE be careful about Mercy...I just posted in the "Christian Self Harm Resources" thread about this too, but seeing your post here, I had to say something. I spent some time in one of their US homes and it honestly did more harm than good, it hurt my faith a lot and actually undid progress I had made in recovery. Check out this blog for more info - it's a lot of links, I know, but the ones on the top left are best if you don't want to go through a bunch of them. Or click on the "X-Mercy Stories" banner, it'll take you to actual stories of girls who have been through the program.
It's possible that they have helped some girls, and maybe it'd be helpful for you, but I just want you to get the whole story before you count on MM to be "the answer" to your problems like I did. I saw it as my only hope, my only option too...I was SO SURE it was where God wanted me to go, I was certain He would use it to heal me...and it didn't happen, and I'm still struggling with the effects of my time there, two years later. I just don't want to see you hurt like I was. *hugs*
Jacie: Yes. And the third one was where House hits his hand with that hard thing made of stone, used to crush spices. Don't ask what that thing's called cause I honestly have no idea. I think it was Season 1. I like that episode a lot, because his relief was so obvious. However, my favourite one at the moment is Episode 16 (I think) from Season 3, where House realizes that an unborn child isn't just a fetus, but an actual human being.
Eryn: I know what you mean. I sometimes feel the same, because I don't have enough courage to admit that I'm a Christian. If someone asks, I usually say I am, but by myself... I think it's really hard to expose yourself like that, because not everyone if fond of us. I guess I'm just afraid I'll get rejected.
I just read the blog about mercy minitries.. I seriously can't believe how awful it is... It sound like my worst nightmare and yet they are claiming that it is christian...
~Here I am at your feet in my brokenness complete~
i red that blog wow how could people do things like that in the name of my savior

“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
I'm..officially freaked about someone mentioning Mercy Ministers..
On Wednesday my GP (whom i am very close to and have seen for the past year) gave me a leaflet, told me to have a look.
Well, he briefly mentioned it was Christian based.
If out of all the religions i had to choose, i'd probably put myself in the "Christian" catorgary, however..i'm still very much undecided on my beliefs at this current time. I don't believe in some of the things the bible says, i do not attend church - although when i was 12/13 i attended a Christian church every sunday for a year with a friend from school. I'm still very much confused on what i do/do not believe in.
Let's leave it at that as i could go on forever.
My good friend Helen (who i met on RYL) went on the site for me as i had no access, and emailed them to send out an application form.
I recieved it this morning. And..well, i was very much shocked.
How intrusive does someone have to be?
Why should i get tested for STD's/STI's? What is that to my recovery!?
I refuse to stand on the scales due to my own personal reasons, i am overweight..and due to some past memories, i am physically, mentally & emotionally unable to step on them. I do NOT have an Eating Disorder, so i do not see why it is necessary for me to put my weight down.
The whole form was so..intrusive, i was gobsmacked.
I had somewhat got myself into the mindset of going to this place in Yorkshire for 6 months..get myself away..recover..or try to. But the application form itself completely put me off (which then led to me getting upset).
I felt like, in alot of what they said..it was like shoving Christianity down my throat. I am a very open minded person, and i'm sure in time if i was to choose to become a regular church going Christian - that should be down to ME and MY own mind, not because i am forced into it.
I really felt uncomfortable just reading the application form.
Can't help but feel i would be told "Self Harming" is a sin at this place. Which would ultimately drive me up the wall with anger.
Meh.
Anyone who can go through filling that form out - well, thumbs up, because i wouldn't personally have wasted my time on it :/
I'm not surprised to hear it actually does some people more harm than good going to Mercy Ministers.

lolz it made me think of veggie tales (ie Lary the cucumber and Bob the tomato)

Dramatic, I'm sorry you had an experience like that. I completely agree, you can't force anyone into something like this. If you have any questions we will be glad to answer them, but we will never try to force you into anything here. <3
I know that when i have posted on here before, its been about asking for support, asking questions and possibly venting because no one knows what i go through with self injury and being a christian on a day to day basis.
Thought that i would share my milestone with all of you lovely christians, with some of you, giving me advice when i have been very low.
I am 5 weeks free of self harm.
Praying, believing in myself and help from my tutor has been very helpful to me.
W00T!!! *runs over and hugs silentgirl* 5 weeks is a long time go god
