Madeleine got a new tooth cut today, and it's REALLY sharp! and pointy like a fang! it's one of the ones between the front teeth, and the molars. It explains why she's been sleeping badly these last few nights... tonight she's got calpol, hopefully it'll help. It's her 13th tooth - unlucky?
And she's saying 'oh dear' whenever something even slightly goes wrong! New favourite word... you should hear her when she wakes at night:
lol, aw, that's cute.
I'm sure every toddler Esmé age has way more teeth then her, though, she does have 3 coming through at the moment, finally, seeing as that makes a total of 7. But, they really aren't effecting her at the moment, thankfully.

Apologies for TMI - but I've got thrush And its so uncomfortable.
Yesterday the pharmacist wouldn't sell me any treatment cos I'm pregnant, but I phoned the hospital today and they said to send Rusty to get it for me, cos it's safe to use, so hopefully it'll clear up soon.
I have to say, I'm really counting the days now, it feels like my body is gradually falling apart! At least once he's born, if I feel crap then Rusty can take him for a bit!!
I'm fed up of teeth; he's got 16 at the moment and has started grinding his teeth again, which is horrible to listen to. I think our wonderful bedtimes have gone too, had a series of crappy nights :(

aw thrush is no fun! when i was pregnant i had thrush for almost 2 weeks untreated and it was soooooooooo uncomfortable. i went to the doctor straight away and she said it didnt look like thrush, so prescribed something else i cant remember what it was. a very uncomfortable week and a half later i returned with no change and she decided then 'oh yeah, it does look a bit thrushy now' - cheers doctor!!!! grrr!
i am annoyed that the pharmacist wouldnt sell you treatment? thrush treatment IS safe in pregnancy and they should know that? then again i had the same problem, because of the same doctor actually, with acne treatment. doctor said there was nowt she could prescribe, sent me to pharmacy. pharmacy refused to sell me anything, saying the doctor should never have sent me as they are not licensed to do that...so maybe it applies to all medicines really.
no teeth cut here yet, but still got all the teething symptoms.

I've been having a crap series of nights too, we're down from sleeping 12 hours to not more than 2 at a time - I'm waiting desperately for a tooth to pop through and him to go back to normal! I didn't have thrush when I was pregnant, but Oliver got it in his mouth when he was about 5 weeks old and then passed it on to me, which was agony. I so nearly caved and gave him a bottle - hope it clears up for you soon Vic.
for those of you who have babies who are a little older...when did you start weaning? i was determined i would wait until 6 months with freyja. but as time goes on im not sure if she can hold off that long? shes waking in the night now, sometimes every couple of hours, at her worst every hour. shes breastfed but i have been giving her a bottle of hungry baby milk before bed, and sometimes during the night as she sleeps a little longer. i am going to try to get bigger teats today, they say 6 months+ but shes taking longer to finish her bottles now and often ends up falling asleep before shes taking the whole thing. i thought to myself its only a few more weeks, just hold on and deal with the sleep deprivation. but shes been watching us eat for ages, sometimes watching the fork pick up the food, following it to our mouths, then watching it go back to the plate and so on...
then this morning she was sat on the floor in her bumbo and jamie sat down on the couch next to her with a bowl of cornflakes. she was looking up at him, started tugging on his trouser leg and making chewing movements with her mouth. now i dont know...the health visitor said 17 weeks at the earliest but the later you leave it the better. shes 17 weeks on this sat coming...but i just really worry in case it has a negative effect on her in the long run...like allergies or stomach problems.

We waited til six months, and to be honest, it wasn't easy but i didn't want to compromise the little guys health. Did you read that thread i linked to you on weaning? It's worth a few minutes to look over. Our main reasoning, other than the "normal" information, was that Aaron has an egg allergy (doesn't get on well with certain nuts either) and i had problems with dairy when i was younger, so we wanted to give our little guy the best chance possible.
If you look on the WHO site, it's even more interesting to read their articles on weaning; ideally until twelve months, food should be complimentary to milk, rather than the other way round.
In a nutshell though.. if you do wean early, stick to fruit (non-allergen ones), stay away from meat until six months at least and be aware of other foods to: keep it basic.

I started Esmé around 20-21weeks.
It was very slow and gradual.
Literally, like 4-8spoonfuls for the first 2weeks.
and like Shona said, fruit, veg, basic stuff.
Just do what you thinks best for her.
Some babies need to be weaned before others.

I weaned at four months. Madeleine was waking every hour all night by then and seemed to have a real interest in food when we ate it. She didn't eat MUCH till 6 mnths though. And abosolutely no milk, eggs, (anything other than pureed veg) until six months.
I started weaning a couple of days before he hit 6 months, we did baby led weaning though so it wasn't purees but straight onto finger foods.
He was waking up more frequently in the night which I took as a sign of hunger, but to be honest it didn't make a difference to his sleeping at all and he now sleeps worse than he ever has done. So it might not even be that she's waking up because she's hungry... has she been waking in the night for long? It might be worth sticking it out if you can, it could be a growth spurt. I think you need to go with your instincts though, some babies do need weaning earlier than others, but personally I'd try to leave it as long as I could. Good luck whatever you decide.
she has been doing it for a few weeks now kelly.
i did read the thread shona, have thought about it.
i think i will just have to continue as i am, i dont want to risk harming her. its hard, but it could be worse.

stace, i stuck the thickest prong of a fork through chloe's teatto stretch the holes - it seemed to work. and she is taking water out of a sippy cup - she holds it herself and everything.
she has a chew on a rusk - and the odd white chocolate button (if she's lucky and daddy hasnt eaten em all for her!
i've been feeling really angry about the lack of support i had for breastfeeding chloe in the hospital. i've found out there are (i think they're called) shells specifically designed to help hold the nipple in shape so baby can latch on - no-one even suggested them in hospital.
