I am currently:

xmas dress up day at work
friday and saturday is xmas dress up day at my workplace
this year the theme is pirates
i got a fairy outfit weeks ago 4 dress up day
i wanna dress up as a fairy
my line manager said i should dress up as whatever i wanna dress up as
i mean (1) pirates are not very nice people
(2) pirates are not very christmasy
we have 2 pay a pound 2 our charaity of the year if we are 2 dress up a priates so if i dress up as a fairy does that mean i dont have 2 pay the pound?
i also wanna rebel against being told on what we have 2 dress up as
i mean it is christmas
it is a dress up day
you should be able 2 dress up as whatever, right?

youd still have to pay, aftet all it is for charity and you dont want to be stingy.
and its up to your work really, but if they said you can dress up as a fairy then dress up as one.

i dont mind giving money 2 dress up i was just saying as im not dressing up as a stupid priate i might not be asked 2 give a pound
i'll probably pay the pound anyway
im just upset with them
i mean we have 2 wear a uniform all throughout the year
and now its xmas a chance 2 dress up as whatever you like
and they're still telling us what 2 wear

Its up to the company, so you dont have much say. Its understandable if they want to set a theme. Why not tel the managers how you are feeling about it.

Dressing up is fun. Dress as a fairy! Their all pretty and nice:) Pirates are all mean and scarey looking.x
