Anti-depressants Problem

Arghhhhh,
I've just been to the doctors today and had my citalopram increased again!
I started of on 10mg...didn't work.
Then I went on to 20mg...didn't work.
Then I went on to 30mg...didn't work.
Now she's just increased it to 40mg...will it work?
I'm obviously going to try it, but I'm worried that if it doesn't work, she won't try me with anything else.
There's so many anti-depressants, and I've only been on citalopram and fluxotine, so if she doesn't try me with anything else I'll be so annoyed.
Do you think she will try me with something else?
She keeps giving me the feeling that it's citalopram or nothing.
I'm scared that if this doesn't work she'll just take me off everything and that wil be the end of it.
Sorry, this is kind of long.

I'm sorry it's not working for you...
I've been on fluoxetine, then citalopram (60mg a day) ..neither of them did anything... but remember they can take a couple of months to work. I'm now on sertraline, which... seems to be taking the edge off a tinnnnnny bit.. not really sure to be honest! They'll probs try you on that if the max dose of citalopram does nothing.
Hope you find something (healthy) that does work for you tho xox

have you talked to your GP about how you feel, because if your not happy with the meds your are being given there are always other options.
I dont really know you or your GP well enough to try and guess what she will do, but i think she will want to do the best thing for you and the only way she will be able to achieve this is if you are honest with her about how you feel.

hey im on citalopram too, i find on 40mg that daytime is fine, but evenings are more difficult. It often depends on the individual but stick at it and see how it goes as remember they can take up to a month to work.

im on citalopram. the good thig about it is that you canot over dose with it. if its not working i suggest you go ahead do your own research and look at other medications on your own that are antidepressant and pick one or 2 u want to try print some stuff out about them why you think theyd help then ask the doctor and give em your reasoning. i hear zoloft is supposed to be pretty effective. good luck

Thank you for replying everyone.

Tearsofgold, I don't get on well with my G.P at all.
My G.P is really young and doesn't have a clue what to do with me.
I feel as if she thinks I'm a problem or as if I could make this go away if I really wanted it to.
I'll try to be honest with her more though,
It's just hard when I feel as if I'm a nusiance.
Thank you.

Are you not seeing a psychiatrist hun?
If you are being prescribed high levels of ADs and they still arent working you should be with CAMHS or Adult Services depending on your age, GPs really shouldn't mess with Anti-Depressants if they dont know what they are doing.
Have you spoken to her about seeing someone else? I started on prozac while I was with CAMHS for a couple of months but they soon kicked me up, just today I hit one gram of medication a day which is made up partly of 300mg of Effexor. There are lots more options past GPs and Citalopram so you really don't need to worry, it doesn't mean you dont have problems, it just might mean you need an extra boost.
Good luck, Aimee xx

This is what's so frustrating, I'm not being seen by anyone!
I saw the mental health team when I was 17 (I'm now nearly 20) and have since seen a psychologist and a psychatric nurse.
Both didn't work at all, but there's no-one left for me to see!
My doctor told me to contact MIND and get counselling.
I just think she doesn't understand the problem, I don't even understand the problem,
But counselling isn't going to work because I don't have anything to be counselled about, if that makes sense.

I feel as if I need to be reffered somewhere else but I'm to worried to ask, and I don't know where I want to be reffered to.
It's just a mess.
Thanks Aimee though,
