i got a question

sorry if this sounds wierd, i have been finding myself going in my own wee world for no reason and people have been saying that i look to be in a day dream and i look confused when they are talking to me and they sometimes have to repeat them selves to me, i know that i have been down but not as bad like this, it feels im not with it most of the time, is that normal

Hi there.

Before I started on my medication I was like this a lot of the time - people said I seemed zoned out all the time and they had to repeat things more than once - even if I was looking at their lips to read them.

Are you stressed or thinking about anything in particular? Are you on any medications which have sedative effects? Is there any situation in particular which this happens?

sorry for the delay, im not on any medication at the moment but its been happening on and off for years and i normally have a hyper day, im thinking that im stressed out at work and at home and normally think about stuff

I have similar experiences when stressed or unwell. Its a kind of protective mechanism where the conscious mind filters stuff out as the outside world can be overwhelming. The technical term is dissociation. Although there are other explanations too.
