Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Does anyone know how long it takes to be referred for computer based CBT?

I've been waiting quite a while now. Almost 2 months. And I'm getting a little restless waiting to start it... It's been ages. And I really want to start..

I don't want to ask my doctor.. I'm scared to to be honest..

Soooo anyone have any ideas how much longer I'll have to wait??

Hmmm... I don't know
I have cognitive behavioural therapy but its not computer based... It took me about two months before it started, I had an ongoing assessment for about 7-9 weeks
Don't be afraid to ask your doctor, they won't do anything (: but I understand why you feel nervous.
It should be starting soon...
Hope this helps

Hi Midnightskies,

It's definitely worth chasing this up. One of the advantages of computer based CBT is meant to be that it doesn't have such long waiting lists?

I know it's nervewracking but it's perfectly reasonable to ask your doctor how long they think it will be before you hear something.

If you don't want to ask in person you could send a letter/note to the surgery so the dr can check nothing got lost in the system.

Meanwhile you might want to have a look at this site - it's a cognitive therapy course on the internet - which introduces the main ideas:

hope you find the CBT helpful - lots of people do.

I too have CBT face to face not computerised so don't know about that side of things but it took me about 8 months to fully go through the system.

Thank you so much for the link Geranium. I have just completed my first session. ANd have got my first exercise to do :)

My mum has suggested that I still chase up the CBT with my doctor. Which I would of done anyway. I'm hoping I start soon :)
