I really dont want to go back now its come to it but we need the money. I have enjoyed being a lady of leisure and going out for coffee and such whenever i want.

Thanks guys,

I could ask my cpn, but it's quite out of the way so she would have to set aside pretty much a whole day to do it :/

Charlie, that sucks, but do you think it would be kind of nice to get back to being normal?

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

will you be going back to full time Charlie? Like Beckie said, that sucks, but you might kinda enjoy the contrast. Who will have Oliver, or will you and Stu alternate so you don't have to pay for childcare? I know a lot of people who do this, but it must be hard, not seeing you partner as much etc.

Beckie, that's a good idea to take some food along. You could always take finger type foods easily, otherwise doing what Charlie suggested would work perfectly. Just try to make it as stress free as possible for yourself. If Jasmine is at least 6 months and able to sit up then you can give her soft finger foods - she won't choke.

I agree it would be worth asking your CPN to come to a contact session with you x

My love, a beautiful future awaits

I have a date for my scan! It's a week today. I also have another 2 appointment letters for appointments in may, one with a sonographer and one with the obstetrics department. Does anyone know why it is so far away and what it might be for? I am going to call the midwife tomorrow cos she left me a message today anyway, so hopefully she can tell me!
I have discovered that every time I am sick during the day and especially at night, I have nightmares that my baby has been born and is alive but something is seriously wrong with it. Last night it was like a zombie and started eating me when I was feeding it -/

I'm not sure about the appointments and stuff, but in regards to the nightmares, it's totally normal to have baby related nightmares like that!
I had some weird ones!

How many weeks are you?

Aww, so exciting!!

Be prepared for people to ask if you're pregnant when they notice you aren't drinking and have excuses ready! :p

I'm working Saturday, which is becoming my go to excuse, but is once again a relevant excuse! Explaining why my tummy is slightly round and my boobs are massive might be harder though!!

The appointment in may is probably for an anatomy scan. It's routine, and recommended, but you can decline if you want. Or, thinking more about your dates, it could be a growth scan, or to check the position of your placenta. It depends on your situation.
The one for the obstetrics dept could be a whole range of things and I would need to know your specific history to answer that. Your midwife will know.

I was told I would need an extra scan because I am overweight, so it could be that. I don't have a date for my 20 week scan but I guess they need to know how far along I am first!

Lol I didn't get to overindulge at Christmas, my mother in law made fish pie (yuk), turkey and more turkey =/ but yea, that is a good excuse! I'm rubbish at thinking of excuses!!

I am looking forward to it in a way. But, in all honesty, ive had 5 months with the baby where Stuarts been working 2 jobs at all funny hours and so ive got myself into a routine with naps times etc etc and i know that when Stuart has him, the routine doesnt get followed.

Probably mostly my own fault, i tend to feed him to sleep and obviously stuart cant do that. And i dont think Stue thinks the routine is important as i do.. which.. maybe it isnt.

I dunno. Im a control freak.

I was going to suggest one of those rubber boob things like in meet the fockers, but that may be going too far... :/

This is a fabulous idea! A photo would definitely be required.

Perhaps you could start trying to get Oliver to sleep without the boob? My sister started this 'pick up, put down' thing with her baby a few weeks ago, and it works really well - he goes to sleep quite quickly now and she didn't have to do any of that horrible 'controlled crying' thing. He's about 4 months old, so younger than Oliver... I could give you details and find out what book it in if you're interested. But basically it involves you putting him in his cot when he's awake but sleepy and not crying - then picking him up and comforting him (with just one phrase like 'time to go to sleep sweetie') and putting him back down when he's settled, but still awake. You can use things like dummies, musical cuddly toys etc. that he's used to as well.

What every you chose to do, in terms of routine making, and getting him to sleep, stick to it! Don't chop and change, commit to it until in works. This was advise from a brilliant child psychologist who gives talks around the world (and comes to my church occasionally) But also, I was lax with the bedtime routine thing, and thus I still had a 3 year old climbing into my bed in the middle of the night :-/

I want to get rid of Lucas' dummy at night and when he sleeps during the day. He hasn't had it during the day for months but he is finally going into his own room in 2 weeks (when the carpet is down) and I don't fancy having to leave our bedroom and walk to his then find the dummy and then find his mouth in the dark when he wakes up because he has rolled into a funny position.

yeah, his bed time routine is strict, and has been the same since he was tiny, which is why from getting into his bed to falling asleep takes no more than 10 minutes currently.

I feel i should try something else, but cos we share a flat with two others, and because our bedroom is attached to the grumpy git next doors, i feel really bad if he shouts too much.

Ive tried the whole put down/pick up thing before, but hes one of those babies that instead of settling himself will just cry for hours.

Any info you have would be great though. Im willing to give it a try now hes a bit older.

Charlie does he take a bottle at all? Maybe expressed milk for bedtimes might get him out of habit of boob= sleep. Then at least stue could do bedtime and nap time if you're not around.

I believe on a strict routine so I'd go crazy if it was messed up although I don't have much of a strict daytime nap routine. Bedtime and mealtimes are rigid though and it works for us. Elliot thrives on routine.
